OpenCPN and Calypso Ultrasonic wired wind meter.

Hi,

I have a Calypso Ultrasonic wired wind meter that feeds NMEA data to the latest version of OpenCPN.

The wind speed reading in Opencpn is out by half when compared to the same data presented through another software program. I can hear the wind give a good puff but it will only show 10 kts, so it’s definitely Opencpn that’s out.

Is there a setting or calibration I am missing?

Any assistance appreciated.

Eugene.

Open an NMEA debug window and look at/post the sentence from the Calypso. I think the sentence is xxMWV or xxMWD.

OpenCPN doesn't change the data it receives.

Re: OpenCPN and Calypso Ultrasonic wired wind meter.

Hi,

Many thanks got that. Thanks your comment I managed to look at the nmea data, and opencpn is working properly. On the other hand the software program I am using to upload the data to Windguru is doing weird things with the data. I have taken a video and am going to send it to the developer. He has been super helpful with other issues.

Thanks again.
