OpenCPN and NMEA sentence

Hi,

I trie to setup a Garmin GPS 152 to show up on OpenCPN chart.
My GPS send GPWPL sentence on com01 which should be waypoint information but I can't see anything on OpenCPN Map.
Do you have any information about that ?

Thanks,

Davy

Welcome to the forum Davy.

A couple of things you can check:
- is there any connection possible between your gps and your laptop?
- did you set the correct comm port in Opencpn (via settings menu)?
- did you set the baudrate in Opencpn equal to your gps it's baudrate? (same menu)

Re: OpenCPN and NMEA sentence

I installed the new release of OpenCPN, 3.1 as you, but I still can't do anything with GPWPL sentences. I can see the incoming GPWPL sentence coming in, but nothing show up in OPENCPN. Should I have waypoint created automaticly ?

Hello
As shown in the tutorial, should add the missing NMEA sentences and mark.

Re: OpenCPN and NMEA sentence

Yes, the sentence is already there, but what OpenCPN is supposed to do with these sentence ? How can I check ? Should I have these GPWPL sentence record as waypoints in the route manager ?

Re: OpenCPN and NMEA sentence

Hello,
Yes the phrase is there.
This means opencpn accept waypoints and can read them.
What is your hardware configuration?

Re: OpenCPN and NMEA sentence

NMEA is coming from a Garmin GPS 152 in OPENCPN.

Here are the sentences :
Code:
$GPWPL,4116.73,S,17447.82,E,BRAVO*13
$PMGNWPL,4116.73,S,17447.82,E,0,F,BRAVO,APRS,x*0E
$GPWPL,4117.25,S,17446.89,E,BRAVO*1B
$PMGNWPL,4117.25,S,17446.89,E,0,F,BRAVO,APRS,x*06
It would be great if it could be possible to see these waypoint on OpenCPN chart but now I have nothing.
