Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

I've had a similar problem while testing other plugins. I close the Options window and reopen and it goes away generally. I think one of the icons in dashboard_tactics 1.6.6 might not be found. However we are now on v1.6.7.0 so I wish you would use that.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

spiv:

1. Please refresh your OpenCPN Beta PPA repo. The latest version of OCPN available there for Ubuntu 20.04 is:

opencpn_5.5.1109+6643+02c862e35~ubuntu20.04.1_amd6 4.deb

2. Please check the name carefully. Note the "6643", vs "6641" on your attached pix. You should then be able to upgrade opencpn without error.

Thanks
Dave

All...
The inadvertent error introduced in 5.5.1109 related to plugin manager list rendering has been corrected in github now. Local builds may test and confirm

Thanks for the reports

I don't understand this request.

Icons are always the responsibility of the plugin itself. The only icon which OCPN core uses in the plugin list is the "puzzle piece", which is used if the plugin fails to provide a valid icon for the plugin list panel.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Maybe the icon was not found and the green puzzle substituted, but why is it shown larger? I posted a situation like this when I had removed several pluggins dll and datat and also the cache. Upon restart the large green puzzles appeared, perhaps because the ini file expects those pi to be active and tries to load them that way.

This problem went away when I closed options and reopened, but then it came back, and the way i got rid of it was by the Import plugin button and then install and that fixed everything back to normal.

So I think it is some state the PIM is in that thinks there should be a pI but there is not.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

I dont know if this is a bug in O or in a plugin or even if it is a bug. The funny thing is I closed opencpn and reopened it and the large green icons were still there. When I imported a test plugin and installed it the problem disappeared.

This would not normally happen to users because they dont normally remove plugins that way and clean out the cache.

I suppose I should just be using the uninstall button?

On MacOS:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi....6ec4c4a1e.pkg

When installing a plugin from the managed list the Options dialog expands in width to make it impossible to see the enable tickbox. I also have the grossly enlarged jigsaw icons.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

We need to figure out when this happens and I agree that it is likely from the plugins. In building plugins to get svg icons working I am finding that certain misconfigured plugins cause this. When I "Import Plugin" the problem seems to disappear almost without fail. I do not know why.

When I have a newly modified plugin that is configured correctly and works the large green icon effect does not happen.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Sorry for the late update.

The problem with the tides I reported in an earlier version is still present in Ubuntu 21.04/x86. I expect some library incompatibility between versions. I will check if the problem still exists in 22.04/LTS when it arrives. The 21.04 version was never a serious candidate for navigation, the important platforms for me are currently 20.04/LTS and 21.08/Flatpak.

At least the Flatpak version works without problems (the 5.5.1109.x/20.08 version).

I ran into a few (minor) problems with plugins:
- First the problem with the icons (which should be fixed by now in github).
- Second, the oesenc package, which is probably linked to the above problem. (Plugin 4.2 rejected and since the icon problem it is really hard to find the updated plugin. Finally I updated to 4.3.)
- I did check as a side-step the o-charts plugin with my charts, but that was only possible due to the fact that I could finish the registration back in july (only with previously bought and downloaded charts). For others that road would probably only be possible when the server is accessible.

Concluding: no undocumented problems found. The update from oesenc-4.2 is very nasty and I hope we can switch to the o-charts plugin soon.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1109 (RC1) Released

Hi there,

I've upgraded my OpenCPN version to 5.5.1109 yesterday on my RPI 4 running OPENPLOTTER and since then I get the following error message at launch.

An assertion failed!

../src/common/unichar.cpp(52): assert "Assert failure" failed in FromHi8bit(): invalid multibyte character

11 unsigned char* std::__copy_move_a<false, char*, unsigned char*>(char*, char*, unsigned char*)

Additionally the oeSENC_pi is no longer available from the plugin catalog

Did you refresh the plugin master catalog?

Thanks

You might want to check this post.

Looks like plenty of issues still there.

The problem is one faulty icon.
I haven't saved the dialog image from before, but what you see is basically the oesenc-plugin causing this (similar as the image AISEAG posted for tactics, included below). Only on Linux there is no horizontal ruler!

Making the dialog wide will show you the normal dialog although weirdly spaced.
With the w--i--d--e dialog you can update the oesenc plugin.

Problem solved.
