Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

Good morning,

On my windows 10 machine the plugin OTcurrent (version 3.0) looses every time the data file (tcdata) in 5.5.1114 and also in 5.5.1116.
The older version 2.6 works fine.

All other stuff is working .

Thanks

Ubuntu running on parallels on M1 pro MBP:

Can't load plugins (except std 4)
running in native resolution with 200% scaling only shows a chart in 25% of the screen.

jan_eulen ...

"looses every time the data file (tcdata)"

OpenCPN now uses a tcd file by default, not HARMONIC.x.
Could you try selecting the tcdata folder from a previous (5.2.x) version of OpenCPN and test with that?

Corrections made, in line with your suggestions.

Just for reference, as others may like to know (me included):
How did you manage to install opencpn:armhf on a 64 bit kernel system?

Thanks
Dave

Yes this version looks better. I was able to use plugin manager to install plugins.
Some of the installed plugins (not all now) still
show up as version 0.0.0

otcurrent,
Grib,
Opencpndebugger,
ObjSearch,
ChartScale,
DR,
IACFleet,
Calculator

These show as 0.0.0

Thanks

I see no question marks on your screenshot. What am I missing?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

After running for several hours with a slow AIS feed coming in I get to a state where some windows that should pop up don't. The Options window and Route & Mark Manager don't appear whereas the AIS target query does. Once a window has failed to pop up then trying to do anything further doesn't work, but a chime occurs instead. I can get out of this mode by pressing escape, but no matter how many times I try the window does not appear. The Options window does not appear if I try and open it with Tools->Options either.

Windows 10 professional, fully up to date.
OpenCPN version 5.5.1114
I believe OpenGl is enabled but since I cant see the settings window I can't check it right now. I don't want to exit now as it takes many hours to get into this state.

Nothing appears in the log file when I try and open the Options window, but the following appears when escape is pressed.

18:17:03.070 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:732 BuildFBO 3
18:17:03.070 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1217 OpenGL Framebuffer OK, size = 1918
18:17:03.100 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:732 BuildFBO 3
18:17:03.103 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1217 OpenGL Framebuffer OK, size = 1918
18:17:03.121 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:732 BuildFBO 3
18:17:03.124 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1217 OpenGL Framebuffer OK, size = 1918
18:17:03.148 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:732 BuildFBO 3
18:17:03.148 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1217 OpenGL Framebuffer OK, size = 1918

Let me know if I can try anything but bear in mind it takes hours to get to this state.

Dave,

what CarCode is referring to is the following:

Name:	DayMark.jpg
Views:	65
Size:	407.2 KB
ID:	248449

The beacon (yellow circle) has a daymark (a triangle), which is correctly shown when using the current oCharts. They were offset, as the top marks of buoys had been. Disabling OpenGL also solved this issue.

So, I guess the only thing being questionable here is the up-to-dateness and the provenience of CarCodes charts.

In my setup everything is fine.

Best,

Manfred

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

For people without reading glasses I enlarged the screenshot.
Shown is the question mark (?) as a top mark in this example.
I don't speak about o-charts but I point out the fact that OpenCPN is not able to show vector charts correct with and without OpenGL.
So actually only raster charts may be shown correct.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

Gerhard,

about which vector charts you are talking?
The actual S-57 charts from the BHS (DE4NO15P) is portrayed right. Does not make any difference being a oeSENC or future oesu chart. Content and portrayel is the same.

That your outdated CM93(?) cells show that glitch can be and shall be corrected.

"OpenCPN is not able to show vector charts correctly" is utter nonsense.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

@Aedan..
I'm on Win and can run for hours with a rather extensive AIS connection. More than 300 targets. No problem. (BTW what's a "slow" AIS connection?)
Just to be sure...: You don't happens to output all on one connection that's received on another and again output... i.e. choking the system with a feedback?

All of these plugins (with exception of Grib??) seem to be legacy, unmanaged plugins. They must have been previously installed on your system using old-style debian packages. They are not available in the various plugin catalogs, although they may still work. Support for legacy unmanaged plugins is not generally available.

Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong in assumptions.
1. You are running RpiOS Bullseye in armhf architecture. (NOT 64 bit).

If that is the case:

OpenCPN v5.5.x does not offer ANY plugins for Ubuntu focal(20.04) (a.k.a. Debian Bullseye(11) for rPi. Neither armhf(32) nor arm64.

A full set of 32 bit plugins for Bullseye is soon to be in the works, but will be some time coming.

I'd recommend that you stay with RpiOS Buster(32 bit) for actual navigation, with plugins.

Sorry, and thanks for the report.

Ok Dave

I thought I was running 32 bits.

Code:
$ uname -a
Linux raspberrypi4 5.10.63-v7l+ #1459 SMP Wed Oct 6 16:41:57 BST 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux
No problem, i will stay with Buster.

Thanks for all the work.
