And did these plugins load and work correctly?

Please post contents of /etc/os-release.

Thanks
Dave

Forgot to answer the question.

I tried to install AISradar pi. It looked like it installed, but it did not work. and the file is named "libaisradar_pi.so.jail"

Thanks

All of these plugins (with exception of Grib??) seem to be legacy, unmanaged plugins. They must have been previously installed on your system using old-style debian packages. They are not available in the various plugin catalogs, although they may still work. Support for legacy unmanaged plugins is not generally available.

Thanks
Dave

Yes. What difference does it make. Legacy plugins have to be respected too.

That your outdated CM93(?) cells show that glitch can be and shall be corrected.

"OpenCPN is not able to show vector charts correctly" is utter nonsense.
Why you don't tell the truth? There are obviously people with your charts which have to switch off OpenGL to show them.

Just to be sure...: You don't happens to output all on one connection that's received on another and again output... i.e. choking the system with a feedback?

By a slow AIS connection I meant one with little traffic, 15-30 stations typically being received at a time. I'm not what the correct term for such a feed is!

I don't believe I'm feeding the traffic back into itself as I'm not seeing any duplicates in the AIS feed, see sample below from NMEA debug window. Also note that when the windows fail to appear the system does not become unresponsive, those features that remain working are still working fast. Right clicking on an AIS target for more information works well, panning and zooming also work well, albeit after escape has been pressed.

I don't think it's AIS feed dependent as last night I left a second machine running with the same feed and the same version of OpenCPN, it is still working fine this morning, some 12 hours later.

It's behaving like the window is there but just not visible, either not made visible or stuck behind the main OpenCPN window. Something related to the drawing/graphics system?

OK, good. No outputs at all <BLUE....>
Next test would be to not use OpenGL if you haven't tried that?
If you can enter into Options->View->Advanced at start up and switch it off?
Else if you can start O with the option: OpenCPN /no_opengl
Or open C:\ProgramData\opencpn\opencpn.ini and change the OpenGL parameter to:
OpenGL=0
And when saved start OpenCPN again. (Don't open the file when O is running!)

MacOS Notebook trackpad issue

Still being plagued by accidental two-finger zoom on a MacBook trackpad.
All too frequently, an accidental kiss of the trackpad while typing causes a wild zoom in or out. The zoom is too sensitive to recover with a two finger gesture and it is necessary to use the + or - buttons to work back to the correct zoom level.
FS#2649 refers. At this stage it is too late to consider my suggestions 2 and 3 but simply ignoring two-finger gestures would be a boon and reduce the cursing from the mate each time she accidentally zooms off the ocean.
I am surprised no other MacBook users have raised this.

I've done that just now, I'll report back in a few hours. It took something less than four hours to fail this morning.

Because no other Macbook users have claimed about it, I guess other users do have another configuration of the trackpad. So I can only advise to check your own configuration of the trackpad. Go to the settings/trackpad of your macOS version (second menu item left below the apple).

It has failed now in the same manner with OpenGL off.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

sorry, to probably "misuse" this thread, however can somebody possibly point me to the correct area?

Since several days, after running an udate/upgrade - I am having severe trouble on my raspberry pi (4) with OpenCPN. It shows me that it is on version 5.5.1116 - I haven't found anything about that version anywhere here.

Thanks for any help and best regards, Uwe

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

Hi Jm,

thanks a lor for your fast reply, but how can I get to 5.5.1117 and where? Further I have a number of other questions, that arose when I thought it would be advisable to rebuild the whole thing, which led me to install "Bullseye" and I finally figured that I should install from "focal"...

So, I don't want to spoil this thread, ist there any other thread where I should go to? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Uwe

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.5.1114 (RC-2) Released

Hi,

I manually installed opencpn_5.5.1117+6667+4ca21564c_ubuntu21.10.1_amd6 4.deb from the beta ppa on my Dell XPS 13 9310 laptop (hidpi), and I have multiple issues, many of them seem to be related to the gfx toolkit (for example, dialog boxes which cannot be closed, unresponsive GUI etc).

For example, just opening OpenCPN without any plugins, click on parameters, plugins makes the GUI unresponsive. I cannot close the dialog. I can however click on "update catalog", which works and displays the "success" dialog, but clicking on the OK button in this dialog does nothing...

Also, only a quarter of the window is used for the map. I saw a lot of changelogs about hidpi, didn't this get implemented for Linux as well ?

I'm attaching my opencpn.log.

Thanks !

Normally it updates automatically but maybe not right away.

To update now, open a terminal and give the following commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

Let us know if that does not work.

Stelian...
OpenCPN 5.5x is officially supported on Ubuntu LTS releases, in this case 18 and 20.

We will address bugs found in later Ubuntu releases after the Release of OCPN 5.6.0.

Thanks
