Dave, did you mean this?

I ended up building version 5.2.8 when it came out. What did I do wrong? not go to the head?

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Tested the latest 5.6.1-1 beta flatpak version on my:

RPI woth RaspiOS 46 (based on Ubuntu Bullseye)
RPI with Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish 64 (stil beta)
Linux Mint Umo AMD64 bits

All with the same Flatpak version.

On all these versions and systems with Flatpak OpenCPN works very well and with most of the plugins allready available.

Flatpak is a great development for unifiing to one OpenCPN version.

Also other Flatpak software applications version are allready available.

Great development.

Yes
git merge origin
and it brought down a bunch of tags, including v5.6.x
git checkout v5.6.x

did it.

opencpn.ini MaxWaypointNameLength option ignored

In the config file is the default
MaxWaypointNameLength=6
Increasing this limit has no effect.

To see this issue, increase the value to, say,
MaxWaypointNameLength=15
Then start navigating to a waypoint with a name longer than 6 characters.
Examine the APB and RMB sentences using the NMEA Debug window.
The waypoint name is still truncated to 6 chars.

Antipool..
In the APB and RMB output for autopilots the waypoint names are always truncated to 6, that's correct.
I suppose that's a adaptation to some APs couldn't handle more characters?
Why the "MaxWaypointNameLength" isn't use there I can't say. Either a bug or deliberately? Not a big thing to change. Only a decision.

With OpenCPN 5.6 and OpenCPN 5.6.1 in parallel, I had crashes with Draw.

Finally I uninstalled OpenCPN 5.6 and OpenCPN 5.6.1 And I installed only OpenCPN 5.6.1.

Then I reinstalled Draw.

The first run of draw seemed correct. But on the second try, Draw blocks the operation of OpenCPN. I can not anymore :

- close OpenCPN with the "red cross at the top right of the screen"

- close the Draw toolbar with the red cross on the Draw toolbar.

Am I the only one having this problem?

I uninstalled Draw, but OpenCPN crashes. I restarted OpenCPN and I observe that the uninstallation of Draw was successful.

All these phenomena had already happened when I had OpenCPN 5.6 and OpenCPN 5.6.1 in parallel.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

I have been looking into this and under Ubuntu 20.04 with OCPN 5.6.1 using OD 1.8.14.2 ( a version being worked on to fix an android problem) there appears to be an issue with Plugin Manger. It would appear that Plugin Manger is activating and deactivating the plugins when the enable checkbox is checked on unchecked. However, if the cancel button is pressed rather than the apply or ok button the state of the plugin is left in the state setup by the checking or unchecking of the enable button.

It is OK for the Plugin Manger to enable and disable the plugin on the check box setting, but it should then take note of whether OK, Apply or Cancel is pressed following any changes and then make sure the user intent is carried out.

On enabling OD and then pressing cancel the OCPN log shows:
```
19:18:38.345 MESSAGE pluginmanager.cpp:2293 PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: /home/jon/opencpn/OpenCPN-5.0/build-kde181/plugins/lib/libocpn_draw_pi.so
The OCPN screen shows the attached screenshot.
Note there are no OD icons in the OCPN toolbar.
The debug messages (added to help with android debugging) show the main functions that are called, shown here:
```
Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: create_pi
Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: ocpn_draw_pi
Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: ocpn_draw_pi return
Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: Init

Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: Init return
Tue Mar 29 19:18:38 2022 :: LateInit
```
Notice that there is no close of the plugin. Unchecking the enable checkbox and clicking OK in Plugins does remove the plugin correctly and shows these debugging functions:
```
Tue Mar 29 19:22:58 2022 :: DeInit
Tue Mar 29 19:22:58 2022 :: destroy_pi
Tue Mar 29 19:22:58 2022 :: ~ocpn_draw_pi

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

OD 1.8.14.3 should now be in cloudsmith in the ocpn_draw-alpha repository. The correct version for your platform will need to be downloaded and then installed from a local location using plugin manager. I know there are issues with android-armhf which I am waiting for help from Dave as it appears to be going wrong in OCPN, just not sure where.

I have tried this version on Ubuntu and it is working OK without leaving the OD Toolbar displayed.

I believe it is Furuno. Perhaps there should be an option for Furuno users.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Jon...

Info regarding plugin enable, and OK/APPLY/CANCEL buttons:

The "Enable" tick-box is, as you have noticed, an instant action function. The plugin is enabled or disabled immediately on change of that tick-box state. In fact, this logic is true for all user interaction on the plugin manager page.

So, in that regard, the OK/APPLY/CANCEL buttons have no bearing on the state of any particular plugin. As another example, the installation or upgrade of a plugin by user interactions on this settings page will not be reverted if the CANCEL button is pressed.

There may be a problem with updating the toolbar when CANCEL is pressed. That I will investigate.

Hope this helps
Dave

I have had to disable Draw, as it crashes both my Win 10 version as well as my Android version.

Used to work well.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

I have just installed OD 1.8.14.3 from the alpha repository (downloaded the msvc zip file and imported it) into OCPN 5.2.4 on windows 10 and it is working for me.
