OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Hello all OpenCPN users.

Here we begin the Beta Test of OpenCPN 5.6.1. This Beta test series will result in the Production release of OpenCPN 5.6.2, in a few weeks.
This Release is meant to be a quick bugfix operation, with minimal UI changes. Very few Feature Requests were considered. So I expect this test series to be smooth and simple.

Here are the MacOS and Windows installers.

MacOS:

Linux: The linux packages are available as usual in the OpenCPN Beta repository:

To install:
$ flatpak install --user https://flathub.org/beta-repo/appstr...CPN.flatpakref
To run:

Coming soon.

Source code:
For local builders, the source code is in github, on branch "v5.2.x" HEAD.

Changelog:
1. Address/correct most of the issues reported in Flyspray:

2. Some minor cosmetic issues corrected.

Notes:

1. Flyspray posters: Please visit Flyspray, verify your issues have been resolved, and request Task closure if possible. The goal is to drive that Task list to zero.

2 I have two issues reported in O560 Release posting which have not been confirmed nor discussed. If you are the OP responsible for either of these issues, please test and comment.

- Chartset list : Ok
- Charset choice : ok
- Run installation charset: Installation freeze.

After a quick test with o-charts 1.0.8, using a chart dongle, I see no problem.


Anyone else tested o-charts_pi on Windows?

In my hardware setup I have a PC and on this PC there is a dongle inserted. But in this test, the chartset has already been installed, previously, on the PC without a dongle. So this charsets must, according to o-charts, install on the Lenovo3 PC. So I expect the chartset to be re-installed on the PC without the dongle intervening...



I will do a test by removing the dongle beforehand

Hum ... I:

- Stopped openCPN,

- Removed the dongle-USB.

- Re-run OpenCPN.

- Under these conditions, the charset was installed without difficulty and the display is correct.



I will never get used to the idea that the O-charts Dongle-USB blocks the installation of a chartset which is associated with a PC without a dongle.
Other than me will remain blocked in front of this situation....

I use a MacOS version 12.3 and the only problem currently encountered is the visualization of KAP files downloaded with VFK plugin.

More detail or perhaps a sample KAP file illustrating the problem would be welcome.

Now it works: I have disabled and enabled opengl. The New Zealand KAP files (downloaded as RNC) on the other hand have always worked

Bugs that have been seen
Win11x64, Video GTX 1070ti

OpenCPN
1. Chart Bar disappears on some zooms in general at large scales
2. Changing the language causes a freeze
3. ENC S-57 if the zoom is moved to the maximum distance, cells with a large coverage and a scale of 50000 continue to be displayed at a zoom of 1.6 NM and charts with a scale of 350000 are visible at a zoom of 11.8 NM
4. Severe freezes are observed when panning the ENC S-57 chart. In areas where the screen displays the boundaries of the cells of the charts
5. Light Description is displayed and disappears then reappears in some places.
6. Show visible sector lights in the off state continues to work

GRIB plugin
1. Displaying Grib on MBtiles map group causes CPN to crash
2. When Particle Map is enabled, panning the map causes particles to shake.

I did not notice any problems with displaying a separate group of MBtiles maps on win11.
I will check the incorrect update of S-57 cells in SENC later, I will make test ENCs for this

I confirm point 6 of Baikal. See screenshot.

The checkbox is "OFF" but the sectors are displayed by putting the mouse on them

I confirm that when the checkbox is "OFF" the sectors are not displayed by putting the mouse on them. Windows 10 up to date.
