BoboftheNorth...

Can you please post your logfile for crashes with OpenGL?

Are you getting the Crash Report dialog, allowing you to email the crash dump contents?

Thanks
Dave

1. re:
"I also want to say that the display of icons in the "Options" is always the same, whatever the cursor position. In all cases, "-5", "-2", 3, 4, or 5, the icons are small."
I suppose you mean the icons which allows selection of pages in the options screens?

2. Toolbar sizing: We (mostly Pavel) are working on code which will scale toolbar icons without blurring. So we will propose that the default icon size will be the same as slider position 0, and not blurred.
My question: Do we think this size (8 mm square) is a reasonable default for all systems/screens?

Thanks
Dave

See the screenshot with cursor = 5. Clearly, the icons of icons barr are big and icons on "Options" window are small.

Important notes:
1. I wear glasses. And with my glasses, I have a good view. Without my glasses, I see blurred and 0 to current cursor position, I can not tell the difference between the icons.
2. I am, right now, to the ground. all is calm ... If I was at sea, with 25 knots of wind, it would be something else.

I think less than 8 millimeters would be too small. Think that many users alpha does not change in personal options. 8mm and requires that the cursor is the earliest possible, currently "-5".

To the position "5" of the slider, it would have to depend on the size of the screen.
- With a 5-inch screen on a smartphone or a small tablet, the maximum icon size does not change much.
- With a 10-inch screen, I just did a test on my old PC EeePC 1001HA that runs Unbuntu. With my glasses, the current cursor position 0 corresponds to my needs. It's Ok. Without my glasses, I have to push the cursor 5 to make it usable. And I suppose for people with a worse view than mine, it must be still insufficient. The first 14 icons measure 16,8cm.
With the 14 inch screen of my Lenovo U41, the icons are slightly larger than the EEPC, with the slider in position 5. The first 14 icons measure 17.9 cm. This probably depends on the graphics card on the PC or diagonal screen ?

This first reflection on this subject deserves further study. Maybe it would conduct a survey of the usual beta testers forum integrating in the survey (questionnaire), the characteristics of their eyes-view and that of the micro computer they have.

Sorry, but it's too late to see the initial situation.

Indeed, having just posted on viewing CM93 linux, I added a raster charts folder and I created a new group of charts. I have not had time to explain what happened but I do it here:

After adding the new raster charts file, I clicked "Ok". Immediately, the update of the database began. This is normal.
Note that at the time of this update, the screen showed the "base map" because I chose to try to display the CM93 charts Group.
And after updating the database, the CM93 are displayed immediately. In other words, the problem is solved.
After that, I created a group charts "Brazil", and passing this group of charts, the display of raster charts is normally done.

The attached screenshots showing the current situation.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

I'm unable to make chart groups made up of single charts in this version ('.1108), but '.602 can.
BOTH are running portably, but the installed 1108 didn't work either.
nothing in the log.no complaints about charts though I am fiddling with some here...but that's not the problem.
1108 just gives a grey screen, then Only the world map when zoomed a bit.
I suppose I could refresh the data and config, but maybe the issue is a real one if someone else can test this...?
my 1108 ini file looks like this
TESTS group is the problem one. Folders in groups are fine.

Code:
[ChartDirectories]
ChartDir1=D:\\CHARTS_MODIFIED_USED^314502840176
ChartDir2=D:\\CHARTS_ORIGINALS_USED^90893895670

Happy,

Do a full database rebuild and see what happens. Also, exactly what files are in the folder that has a "single chart".

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

trans'dan, I have done many database updates. Note that it works in 602 using the same charts.

The charts selected are selections from folders already included in the main "ALL" database.

But, if I am the only one with this issue, I can surely fix it here. Thanks.

Happy,

You cannot add "charts" to a group. You can only add chart folders to a group.

Happy,

Not sure if you are following what I am saying. How exactly can you add a single chart file to a group? I only see chart folders in the upper half of the dialog. There are no chart files listed.

It may be that in some old version of O this was possible but I think it is no longer possible. One can put a single chart file into a folder and then add that folder to a group.

Ah ha, I see what has happened. It looks like you may have manually edited the opencpn.ini file to add chart files to a group. This is not supported now if it ever was.

To add a single chart (or a few charts) copy these charts to a folder. Add that folder to the group and you will have what you want.

How strange!

no, it might look like that but I didn't edit anything.(well, except the default triangle icon, come to think on it) It just popped up as a difference while I was grinding at some charts and seemed awful handy for the present purpose. ...Not a big deal.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

I don't ever remember seeing individual chart files in the upper "groups" dialog box. So I couldn't figure out any other way that these chart file names could ever be added to a group. Maybe some version that predates my history with O had this feature.

Anyway I did a test today where I put one chart in a folder and added that folder to an empty group. I can select that group and see only one chart. This is how it's supposed to work.

good thing I keep my favourite beta-Os! Some are vintage, to my palate.
...and,now, I see my good ol' 4.0.0 Permanent Portable can do it too....
Things get lost.
