On one of our Win machines it works (the W7 PC), on the other (Win 8.1) not.
So this looks driver dependent

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

Hello Hakan,

We knew for some PC, especially depending on the graphics card, some functions do not work with OpenGL.

Unless I am mistaken, I think Dave has prevented the use of OpenGL on some machines. See the first post of this thread or the first post of the thread on the previous beta.

Not exactly "prevented", more like "enabled with reduced performance".

Just to be clear...

Ctrl + Left-Arrow Larger Scale Chart (Scale In) - does not work.
Ctrl + Right-Arrow Smaller Scale Chart (Scale Out) - does not work.
Ctrl + G* cycles through green, red and normal screen. (- does not work on my system drivers. may on others)
Have tried this again, with Raster BSB Charts (thankyou Hakan) now it seems to be working better, perhaps I did not have the cursor in the right place [left click on the sea] then hit the keys.
I realized it pages through the charts increasing in scale or decreasing in scale. This is working with or without Opengl on Win7.

Ctrl + G does not change color screen, it does nothing (with or without opengl on)
yet F5 and the Change Color Scheme Icon do cycle through the three color schemes.

I think these controls should be shown explicitly under Settings > Display.
Also under Caesar's new menu system.

Addtionally the controls for brightness - dimming the display should be available under Settings > Display and Caesar's new menu system, I think.

Thank you Dave. I'll put information about it in the website shoreline on OpenCPN.

Ahaa- Are any of these preventing the Ctrl-G function? From my log-file:

Hello Dave,

Now, with O 332302, there is strange mo file in LC_MESSAGES : "strwxs.mo".
If I delete it, O do not speak french ... It seem to me that this file is not in Crowdin ...

Can you explain this ? Thank by advance.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

per suspend/gps on win7 (HP G60) (post 80), having "zoom to cursor" UNCHECKED" helps when GL OFF... Autofollow button stays on, GPS position recovers fairly quickly.
"with OpenGL enabled it's still a fail.

CTRL+G works on my old XP machine which is otherwise hopeless OpenGL(chart groups especially bad and freeze machine for long periods), but does not work on Win7 G60. Other shortcuts work ok.
....I really like CTRL+G. It would save me running extra prgrm ("DarkAdapted")

Correct. It's been in the documentation, since this feature was introduced, that it's driver dependent on Windows.

This file is part of wxWidgets, that's why we are not going to translate it ourselves again. If you have problem with the translations it contains, you will have to raise it with the wxWidgets authors. A general advice: Do not delete stuff when you don't know what it is good for

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2302 Released

I'm having trouble with the "Hide Chart" feature. I using the US raster charts in the Charleston area. There are some skewed ICWW charts here. When I first went to this area I think I could hide any chart regardless of whether a skewed chart was displayed or a normal chart was displayed. After messing around this area for a few minutes I could no longer hide any chart when a skewed chart was displayed and the "X"s had disappeared. When I clicked on a normal chart the "x"s come back and I can hide charts again.

I don't seem to have this problem on 3.3.1606

WDkester...

Charts can only be hidden in quilt mode.
Skewed charts are not displayed in quilt mode.

So, its not possible to hide any chart while displaying a skewed chart.

This make sense, as the idea of hiding a chart is to remove it from the quilt.

I'm 0 for 2 this week. The reason that I thot it worked on 3.3.1206 is that i had a Polyconic chart selected and on my tablet I can't see the difference between poly and skewed.

1. The problem I'm trying to solve is: When going down the ICWW the ICWW specific charts are all skewed and 1:40000 scale. When you come to a 1:20000 scale unskewed chart (like in Charleston), sometimes O will load that chart and you will loose the "magenta line". For past trips I made a route that covers the entire ICWW, but I've somehow lost it. I could stay on the route line until I manually selected the ICWW chart. Guess I should reconstruct the route. (Alternately when the non ICWW chart comes up you can hide it, but then you get another smaller scale chart, and then you select the skewed chart (Hopefully the right one.) This somewhat error prone process has to be taught to your crew.

2. Since you are going from skewed chart to skewed chart, with auto follow on, O sometimes waits until the boat is almost off the current chart before displaying the next one. You can usually manually select the next chart but I get nervous.

It doesn't seem that Chart Detail Zoom Level effects either of these issues.

Maybe there are some workarounds that I haven't thot about.
