Dave

Something has definitely changed with zoom to cursor.

Before, with zoom to cursor enabled, it zoomed to center when using the toolbar or the + - keys, and Auto Follow stayed enabled if it was.

Now, it will zoom around the upper left corner when using the zoom tools or around the cursor when using the + - keys and Auto Follow turns off.

I much preferred the previous behaviour, at least when using Auto Follow.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Hello Dave,

This concerns the item "Enable Transparent Toolbar" wich is in the tab "User Interface"
This item is hidden if the check box "Use OpenGL" is ON in the "Display" tab.
This item is unmasked if the check box "Use OpenGL" is OFF in the "Display" tab.

I think it is not practical for many non-specialist user OpenCPN to link this way an item from one tab to another item on another tab.

I would prefer that the item "Enable Transparent Toolbar" will never be hidden. By cons, since it is related to the OpenGL function, it is necessary to change the text. Could be replaced by "Enable Transparent Toolbar if OpenGL is OFF."

Jean-Marie...

I don't understand your comment.

Zoom-to-cursor will always turn off the auto-follow. It always has. It must, since the center of the screen is definitely moved if you zoom-to-cursor, except for the very special case where the cursor is already exactly at the center screen.

Of course, in touch screen mode, it should not center around the upper left buttons. This is a bug.

Thanks
Dave

Jean-Marie and RhythmDoctor...

OK, checking all the possible configurations, and all my available platforms, I finally come to an understanding of your comments and ideas.

So, I reverted the ZTC behaviour to that of 3.3.2410 almost completely, and it seems OK to me.

Especially, note that the toolbar zoom tools and +/- keys always zoom around the screen center, whatever the state of the ZTC selection option and/or touch screen option. So, incidentally, this fixes the undefined state of the ZTC zoom location in touch mode, also. Its always the center, even with pinch zooming.

Thanks for your patience here. It took me a bit to catch on, but I got it.

I think this is a good idea.
Not sure about the text, exactly.

How about
"Enable Transparent Toolbar if OpenGL is disabled."

Any other writer types have an idea here, I'll take it.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Gilletarom...

About the missing S63 PlugIn in parallel installs, and the charts in the list:

I too have been caught by this logic fault. It needs fixing.

However, the fix is not trivial, and affects a lot of other code. So I prefer not to do it for the 4.0 Release.

Fortunately, I think most users in real life will not be running parallel installations. They will upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0. They will re-install the S63/NVC/BSB4 PlugIns as required, and be done once. So the issue mostly affect us testers. And we hopefully know what to do as required, and can teach others who may have installed a 3.3 Beta.

When we start the 4.1 Beta cycle, this issue will be high on the list of upgrades considered.

Thanks
Dave

I always try to minimize the number of words, and make the connection visually instead of verbally. I would recommend keeping the words "Enable Transparent Toolbar" but moving the selection to the Display-Advanced page directly under the OpenGL option. Also you might have it indented to emphasize that it's dependent on the OpenGL setting. Then, if possible, cause it to gray out immediately when someone checks the OpenGL box. If that's not possible, at least make it gray out upon clicking "Apply." (Note that on the current build, clicking "Apply" does not change the grayed-out status - you need to click "OK" to exit the dialog, then go back into the dialog to see it change between gray and black.)

I do not have a strong opinion about this, since it's one of those "set it and forget it" settings, but I'm just sharing my opinion FWIW.

I am OK with the idea, if choices are exclusive, the system must show it to the user.

Hello Dave, Hello All,

By Dave :
How about
"Enable Transparent Toolbar if OpenGL is disabled."
"
OR

By RythmeDoctor :
"I would recommend keeping the words "Enable Transparent Toolbar" but moving the selection to the Display-Advanced page directly under the OpenGL option.
"

Both ideas are right for me. The rally in the same tab seems to have life easier for users more than the first idea. Next, see what is the easiest to implement

Hello Dave,

About this item : "Show Toolbar in Fullscreen Mode", #: src/options.cpp:2653

This item no longer appears in any of the options tab. But it is still present in the crowdin. Is this normal?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Hello Dave,

I tried the keyboard shortcuts "[" and "]". It now works with my French keyboard.

Two questions:
1. Is it possible to display, in the center of the direction indicator, the value the angle of rotation?

Otherwise, this value could it be visible in the menu bar, "Navigate"?

2. There is something illogical in displays when using one of these keyboard shortcuts. I'll try to explain.

- Let us start from a situation with north up.
- I press [ (or ])
- In the menu bar, navigate the rotation mode is displayed in place of "North up". But it remains "Course up". It's the same in the general context menu.
Alpha user may assume that O mode "North up" is no longer possible.

Is it possible that when the "Rotation" is Inrush by one of two keyboard shortcuts,
a) the item "North up" remains in the menu bar, navigate
b) the item "North up" also appears in the context menu.

And symmetrically, if we start with "Course up"

There is 2 functions for "Alt Gr \" :

- with rotate off : Zoom out like "-" (it's the same physical key as "\" on french AZERTY keyboard).
- with a rotate on : reset the rotation AND zoom out.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2424 Released

Climatology has a problem now with overlays. The overlays become excessively fuzzed out and wierd when you zoom in but have not nearly reached overzoom. I left a note about this on The climatology thread several days ago. I believe this is caused by changes in the main program and we need to get it fixed now for two reasons:
1. Overlays are not working rigjt.
2. Overlay screenshots may be needed for the manual. Thomas advises that that section of wiki is not working right.

I will be looking at the wiki this morning.
