Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Folks, this exchange is counterproductive...
(yes, I know, not my business)

Anyway, what I understood is that if a data file can potentially have data fields of type A, B, C and D

AND

there are screen controls to adjust for each possible data type, say Adj_A, Adj_B, Adj_C and Adj_D,

THEN

IF a given data file contains only data of types A,B, and D, THEN only controls Adj_A, Adj_B and Adj_D should be presented to the user, with Adj_C possibly shown as disabled (grayed out?). From UI design perspective this has some merit...

Anyway, back to read only mode..
Greetings, Marius

What?

Isn't this exactly what the thing does now?

Gerhard, I think, maybe, has some problem with the icon "Geopot. Height Choice" and the two checkboxes to the right of it on the GUI tab in the settings. Although he is not able to describe/confirm it in a way I (and from what I can tell also you) would be able to understand.

The rest of his posts is probably just bitching about #2388 (hiding a wxSlider with labels only hides the slider only) – wxWidgets
The answer he got there is good enough I suppose.

Yes, this is what I was able to understand, which probably makes your point pretty well :-)

Another thing that makes me wonder....
CM93 2012:
All of a sudden I did not get the large scale charts when zooming in. Instead there was only a small scale chart with very few details.

In the log I found this

the same pattern repeated for 6500 lines.

After a restart of O all was OK again.

What triggered the "Error ingesting " problem?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

cagney...

Hard to say what exactly causes the "ingest..." error. It is a catch-all for mostly file read errors, but also some checking for cm93 cell content sanity.

Is this error at all reproducible? If so, I can add some logfile debug info, and we will see exactly what the complaint is.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Hi Dave,

The beta crashed when it started. Uninstall the previous version and install again, then work fine. The lines around certain chart object such as tss and restricted boundaries that was missing in 4.8 properly shown now. However, some other lines such as anchorage boundary lines is missing.

Best regards

The grib wind arrows are gone this morning. They still works on 4.8.0, so I think the problem was introduced with yesterdays grib current arrows commit .

2. In file: opencpn/data/s57data/s57expectedinput.csv, look for the prefix code, "131" in this case. There you will find listed the values that the attribute RESTRN(131) can take on.

3. I think this is redundant with contents of file: opencpn/data/s57data/attdecode.csv. Probably we could improve the lookup logic.

Anyway, I will add "16;discharging prohibited" to s57expectedinput.csv

More?

Thanks
Dave
I cross checked these files, some are missing because they were deleted (I double checked with s-57.com) but some may be true, haven't see them in charts but I haven't tested all charts for missing values, there's few missing objects obsolete ones in cm and missing new ones in s57 (area in test charts).

text output from script.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Bruce...

4.8.10109 now does the correct job of updating S57 ENC cells from "Reissued" base cells. This is an improvement from 4.8.0.

Is it possible that the missing features have actually been removed from the cell by some update that is now being properly processed?

Is there any way that we could get access to the chart files?

Thanks
Dave
