Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Problem with displaying S57 charts
This has already been in the beta stage
Base SENC prepared from scratch
OpenGL - ON with OFF is the same, but the artifacts are less

Win10 64x, GeForce GTX 750 have the latest drivers

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Has anyone built O for Raspberry Pi lately? I have been able to build on RPi for many months but this week suddenly I get GCC seg faults when building O latest git.

Is it possible that the missing features have actually been removed from the cell by some update that is now being properly processed?

Is there any way that we could get access to the chart files?

Thanks
Dave
Hi Dave,

Those missing lines are boundary lines of anchorages. No change has been made.

I will come back with those charts and correction files later on.

I've built on RPi wo problem. Latest yesterday's git. I've RPi 2B with Raspbian and Jessie. I've though upgraded according to the .travis.yml file in O root.

Do you see the decompression problem, in whose description I now got a bit lost, only with RAR compressed charts from Peru or also some others?

Problem solved: I did not have unrar on my Raspberry 3 (only unzip)

Hi Dave,

I attached two charts for your reference. One is 505W and the other is 503E.

505W covers the area that screen shots that anchorage boundaries were missed. The lines were missing even without any correction.

503E attached here for a crash problem with the latest Android version. The program crash when correction file .033 was loaded.

Dear SailorF54,

still no ppa with the beta. I have used your compiled beta version before. Do you have a link to your latest copy of the beta version for the RPI3 ?

Regards,

Bram

Hum ... I tested this with my PC under W10. In my PC under W10, I have unzip which is integrated with W10 but I also have 7zip. So, theoretically, in my PC, there is a tool that can manage rar files.

Still, I encountered the same problem as Sailor54. So

It is irrelevant what other software is installed on your PC, unpacking all the archives is handled by the chart downloader plugin itself. Handling RAR archives was changed between the last beta released and the current state in git. So, unless you compile from source, it does not work with RAR v5 archives (as used for the charts of Peru).

I have tested most of the functions and this beta worked very well on my RPI3

Not all the plug-ins were avalaible, but that is what can be expected with a beta version.

Then I cleared the system for unused files with sudo apt autoremove command.

Started OpenCPN and now it appears that the tidal info is gone !

How is that possible ? What can be the cause of this behavoir ?

Regards,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10109

Bram...
It is not exactly always a good idea to mix the official packages, that install correctly to /usr with this package that installs to /usr/local.
The best probably would be to build even these beta packages with the standard /usr installation prefix, which is done by configuring using
Code:
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr ..
before building the package.

For the tidal data missing, the explanation probably is you have opencpn-tcdata from the normal PPA installed in /usr (=the files are in /usr/share/opencpn), while the beta package from Francois, even though happy with satisfied dependency, is looking for them in /usr/local/share/opencpn
