OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10119

Ahoy testers...

Here is OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10119

This is an incremental maintenance release.
We plan to do an abbreviated Beta test, and release when ready.

Source is available now on github at:
https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN
Branch: master
Tag: Beta_v4.8.10119

Windows:
http://opencpn.navnux.org/beta/openc...0119_setup.exe

Mac:
http://opencpn.navnux.org/beta/OpenCPN_4.8.10119.dmg

linux Beta PPA:
AMD64 and i386 are ready now.
For Precise and Trusty, the latest build version in Beta PPA will be 4.8.10118.
This is equivalent to 4.8.10119 for Beta testing.
The ARMHF builds will be delayed for at least two days due to PPA buildfarm backlog.

Please check and clear your Flyspray tasks.
I apologize for the difficulties with Flyspray warning message overload.

Thanks for your help, and...
Good Luck
Dave

Hi,

Thanks for your work, It is a great navigation tool which I love it.
I would like to ask about:

18. Add new GSHHS basemap sources and integrated support to Chart Downloader.

If I switch off all my maps, now there is no map at all even basemap, see screenshots

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10119

Hello,

The charts of Peru are downloaded and installed correctly.

A small display problem appears.
See my settings for the "Raster" slider in Options.
A chart of the ocean's coast being chosen, this chart being placed in the center of the chart area, we click on the blue bar in the chart bar. The chart is displayed.
You have to zoom in to see more detail.
But, at the first click on the icon "Zoom +", the chart stops displaying. You have to click a second time to see it reappear.

Strange.

This does not happen if you choose to display one of the Amazon charts.

I note that this phenomenon is present also with O4810109

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.8.10119 Using VDR

Hello,

I install VDR 0.4.

In this post http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2552995
I said this :
"
2 ° If I check the "check box" of the first item, putting the value "0", in the second item: Then everything depends on the speed of reading requested in VDR, adjustable thanks to the cursor.
If the slider remains to the left (normal playback speed), the operation is similar to 4.8.
If the cursor is pushed all the way to the right (maximum reading speed), then there is a "strange" bug. There is a thick vertical red line and the boat's COG prediction arrow that becomes a red line from top to bottom of the screen. See the screenshot attached.
"

Ok, you said me that this item is for some test ... BUT ....

Normally we have to see the "COG predictor length (Min)" of the boat. The two red lines, that we see in my screen shot are not normal. See two other screen shot here joined.

Gille..
Yes, I admit. If you try hard enough, you can misconfigure the lat/lon calculated SOG/COG and VDR plugin playback to behave as you describe.
VDR plugin with the slider on the left is not "normal speed", it simply means "one message per second", which, with most recorded data, is much slower than the speed at which it was recorded.
Anyway, I will not fix these artificially created situations in any way as I consider them pure operator error. Simply set the dampening period to a value adequate for your playback speed, likely one for the fastest and up to 10 for the slowest, depending on what you are playing back to feed it.
