OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1031 Released

Here is OpenCPN v5.5.1031

Windows
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi...60d4_setup.exe

MacOS
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi....6ac60d46d.pkg

ubuntu/debian linux:
Available now in the OpenCPN Beta Ubuntu Launchpad repository

flatpak:
$flatpak update org.opencpn.OpenCPN//beta
$flatpak run org.opencpn.OpenCPN//beta

Source code
https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN
branch : master
tag : Beta_5.5.1031

Changelog:

1. Small changes to GUI message layouts, etc.
2. Finalize Extended Route/Waypoint API.
3. Language file content update.
4. Some small changes to translatable strings, in crowdin now.

Notes:
1. This is the final Beta Release, before Release Candidate testing starts.

2. There are some new strings to be translated at crowdin.

3. This is now "last call" for translations. Translations missing in the Release Candidate probably will not appear in the Production Release.

Good Luck, and Thanks for your help
Dave

Btw.:

With this version the language settings for the User Interface will allow again to select any available, not just the local and English.

At least this works for me on that macOS 12 version.

re: "At least this works for me on that macOS 12 version."
FYI:

On Win I can select any language but whatever I select except English(US) the language is set to system's language i.e. Swedish.

The same had been valid for macOS, but now it is ok again.

Yes, my wordings would have been: the language is still set to system's language
That is: No change for me in this beta version.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1031 Released

Latest 5.5..1031 version works very well on my RPI 4 systems with RaspiOS64, Unbuntu Impish 64 and Debian Bullseye 64. All running the Flatpak version of OpenCPN. The only item that is still missing is de O-charts plugin for the Debian version. There is a plugin, but that one is of the wrong type.

I have now systems running from an USAP SSD USB 3.1 and on a usb 3.1 stick Samsung 64 with a reading speed of 300 mb/s. Much faster then an SD card.

All improvements in software and hardware. Great,

Dave, I guess I'm to late with the Norwegian translation. I did not get any email from the forum about updates, even if I'm subscribed to the threads.
I have checked spam as well.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1031 Released

New Raspberry pi OS is out. And it is based on Debian bullseye.

https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/ras...bian-bullseye/

Are OpenCPN binaries available for it?
Preferably compiled with gtk3

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1031 Released

It is pity that it is still 32 bits. Now tried the latest 64 bits RaspiOS version also based on Debian Bullseye.

Then added the OpenCPN direct from the repository. Worked wel.

Then I installed the Flatpak version of OpenCPN. Worked also very well.

The the SignalK server and NPM. Installed also with no problem.

OpenCPN has now a connection with the Signalk input.

The Fatpak has now also an Icon. Now two Icons one OpenCPN and one Opencpn Flatpak.

Not yet tried the O-Charts plugin and the OpenPlotter extra's. Try this tomorrow.

This Debian Bulleye based RaspiOS works very well and fast. Also with the OpenGL setting on.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1031 Released

Just done some more trials with the RaspiOS based on Debian 64 Bullseye. De O-charts plugin 0.9.042 does not work.

And the problem with OpenGL is back.

OpenGL works for some time and then an error occurs. OpenCPN tried to start and flips away. The only solution is to change in the config file Opengl=0 instead of 1. To switch the OpenGL setting to off.

After installing the dependencies of the OpenPlotter additions and installing the Advanced version of the OpenPlotter extras.

All seems to work after installing the separate items. The Realvnc server is allready in the system and can be switched on. The network with the Wifi Access points work etc etc.

Now OpenCPN is remote controlled running wireless on my GSM mobile phone via a VNC reader. Can also be another system or an Ipad or Chromebook with an VNC reader.
