Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

I might add that the previous release of OpenCPN worked just fine, so this is a new bug.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

Yes, I can confirm O 5.2.4 does handle this in another way. A scale of 225% is not destroying the chart scaling as on O 5.5.928. (Hmm.. never tried before)

More information, please, and perhaps some screenshots to illustrate the problem?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

Dave.
Meanwhile two shots from me.
Scale to 175% and 225%. The first is OK. The second after, closed O, scale change and O restart. The "Auto follow" mode is out of screen and on "Look forward" mode is the ship symbol not visible. Other screen scaling details are a mess as well.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

The duration for updating a chart file is too long, even if you are using Chart groups. This would certainly be appreciated if it would b improved.
Best Regards.

So if you've a GNSS receiver using more than the GPS system please test.

Note: The instrument "GNSS in use" shows what the GNSS receiver reports about how many satellites from available systems are used for the position fix calculation. We may assume the "best" satellite mix from different systems are used.
I only have GPS and Glonass no others!
Although there are other GNSSs in U-Center see attachment.

I'm not sure what you mean but less than 12 satellites from a single system is shown with hyphens. A screenshot maybe.

The GNSS status window shows what included in the xxGSV sentence following the NMEA0183 standard. If you use the NMEA Debug window you can check what's transmitted from your device. (I've seen devices not following the standard completely.)

The Windows scaling problem affects mostly the chart display. Strangely, the rest of the UI takes the scaling into account correctly.

For the following you need OpenCPN with GPRS of some sort and make sure the GPRS status window is displayed, and ‘zoom to cursor’ is checked.

1. Set Windows display scaling to 250% (actually, anything other than 100%). To do this:
• right-click Windows Desktop,
• select Display Settings,
• scroll down to Scale & layout.
• Select 250%
2. Start (or restart) OpenCPN.
3. Look for the GPRS Status window (top right):
==> Expected : GPRS Status Window is shown
==> Bug: Missing GPRS Status Windows

4. Position the chart so you are well away from your own ship and press F2 to center the ship
==> Expected: own ship will be centered
==> Bug: own ship is not centered
5. Position the cursor over some well-defined object on the chart and zoom in
==> Expected: chart will be zoomed in centered on the cursor
==> Bug: chart is zoomed but is NOT centered on the cursor.
6. Chart display is cluttered and wrong. See Hakan’s description and screenshots.

Looks nice but from my perspective that info is overdone for a navigation system often using charts with less accuracy then today's GNSS system. This discussion may be continued on OCPN github preparing for next O release after 5.6?

Very good. Thanks for the check.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

Dave ...

Just been working on a problem with the VFKaps plugin. (Win10 and clean installation of OpenCPN 5.2.4)

Code:
07:52:52.238 MESSAGE vfkapsgui_impl.cpp:262 VFParams:https://www.venturefarther.com/kap/KapDownload.action?zoom=6&centerLat=52.629065&centerLon=-4.011726&size=640x640&kapZip=zip&includeSurroundingKaps=0&scale=2&satType=google&key=BkmsIQDqD76rvff9DY8fvyxweOX0LOqS
07:52:52.740 ERROR dialog.cpp:352 Network error: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates
Traced the issue to the CA version bundled with OpenCPN 5.2.4. This is the same version you are using with 5.5.928.

Replaced curl-ca-bundle.crt with the latest from curl.se (Renaming cacert.pem as curl-ca-bundle.crt and installing the new certificate bundle)

For version 5.5.928 would it be useful to update the bundle in the zip file found here:
https://download.opencpn.org/s/oibxM3kzfzKcSc3

Mike...
Where exactly do we find cacert.pem on the curl website?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

Mike....

Never mind previous. Found it.

I could not update-in-place the existing Windows build dependency file. The cloud system we deploy this file on uses random mangled naming conventions for download links. So there is a new download link to the build dependency 7Z file, containing the updated certificate file. The Appveyor CI script for O5.5.x has been updated. You may find the new 7Z download link there.

Please confirm proper operation on the latest Appveyor CI Windows build artifact:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi...5c69_setup.exe

Thanks
Dave
