Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

When dragging a routepoint to a point of another route the message "Replace this RoutePoint by the nearby Waypoint?" should appear. Normally it does. But when the routepoint that one is dragging to is also part of a hidden (not visible) route, the message may not appear, in that case it is not possible to replace the waypoint or append part of the other route.

If the problem occurs depends on the internal sequence of routes. When a point of a hidden route is found before a point of a shown route, point may be refused.

A similar problem occurs when making a new route.

daga..
For info has Dave introduced a patch for this working on my environment. If you can't build from source please await next beta version for a test.

'Delete all' in the Mark and Route Manager has a bug.

In the images I have dropped three unrelated marks. Selecting 'Delete all' brings up the alert regarding inclusion in routes or anchor alarms, neither of which are applicable to these three marks.

This is a carry over from previous versions.

Terry...
"'Delete all' in the Mark and Route Manager has a bug."

Not a bug. The message is a simple reminder to consider carefully the impact of deleting all waypoints. For example, shared waypoints defined during route creation are not shown in this list. But they will be deleted (and thus the routes corrupted) if you proceed.
I suggest you should multi-select the waypoints that you want deleted, and just them, to be safe.

Thanks

Is there option in OpenCPN to automate night/day/twilight modes of the screen based on gps local time and local sunset/sunrise?

Then it should be titled as a 'Reminder' and not an 'Alert'.

But it says that there ARE some such offending waypoints not a reminder that there MAY be.

I thought the purpose of 'Delete all' would be a shortcut to selecting all and then deleting.

I'd be much more comfortable with this if any offending waypoint was identified in the alert. As it is now the user has no idea if it is safe to delete all or not.

Terry

P.S. Still waiting for a reply to my emails and PM.

Actually, I'll bet there are. Probably a closed polygon route used for marking interesting areas? These types of points are not shown on the list.

In this case, maybe "All" is a little ambiguous. But it really means "ALL", not just the ones shown on the list.

p.s. email sent. Sorry I missed the PM

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

New issue with included and other plugins:
To reproduce:
  • Open the preferences for a plugin
  • Change a preference
  • Disable the plugin/Apply/Ok
When Options -> Plugins is opened again the icon for the plugin shows as the jigsaw one.

This was found with oesenc/WMM and an updated version of squiddio so far.

We know that disabling a plugin after changing the preferences causes some plugins to crash:

https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/i...ment-939203439
Work is taking place to resolve this.

But the issue with the icon has not been seen before.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

I came upon a small error when trying to use tidal data:
I right-click on the tidal symbol and opencpn crashes imediately.

Nothing of interest to be found in the log, only hint was a few lines at the prompt.
Code:
$ /usr/bin/opencpn -l 5
Bad loglevel 5, using "info" SENC: nCPU: 8 m_max_jobs :7
Unable to connect to 192.168.14.150:3000

(opencpn:31549): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 18:04:29.574: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GtkScrollbar

(opencpn:31549): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 18:04:29.636: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GtkScrollbar
opencpn: ../../../../src/cairo-arc.c:189: _cairo_arc_in_direction: Assertion `angle_max >= angle_min' failed.
(I ran into the problem with 5.5.0. Found it still present in 5.5.928. Last run with extra commandline option "opencpn -l 5".

Since the logfile is 84kb I decided to only post when required, I could rename opencpn.log to opencpn.log.doc. But the crash is almost silent. There is not much in the logfile.)

System: Linux x86_64 Ubuntu 21.04 (this should be nearly identical to 20.04 for OpenCPN). OpenCPN version 5.5.928-1259+aea030892. Are you able to recreate this crash?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

Don't see this problem here. But you have to change the tidal information to the EU area.

OpenCPN running on the flatpak version.

Every tide station, or any particular one(s)?
Thanks

I tried Den Helder (NL), Schiermonnikoog (NL) and Helgoland (GER). Therefore it seems every station.
Even with another harmonix data set it crashes.

I will try to install Focal this weekend, perhaps the problem is based on Hirsute instead op Focal.
