Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

WatchDog works, but dont use the pypilot alarm or even have it configured. Delete pypilot alarm. Clogs nmea0183 and opencpn.

I will be removing that alarm.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

Also because I had no positive reports about the plugins that do work in various OS, I wanted a comprehensive list of ones that do work first, so I just tested for windows. Then I moved all the ones that work properly in windows into master catalog and removed them from beta. If they dont work for you let us know please.

From memory, these are in master catalog now, wxroute, wxfax, climate, squiddio, celnav, findit, vdr, logbook.

Tactics, dashboard tactics, watchdog statusbar, aisradar are some of the ones with problems.

The TP list that I maintain as these plugins are changed is here in Jon's github fork, under issues.

Polar and Plots were also moved to master catalog.

Rick posted a new version of weather routing. It fixes the problem. Just update your master catalog to pick up the change and then update the plugin.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

I've tested a couple of routes with weather routing. It's working, but in my area I have to use boundaries to keep out of shallow areas. I can't directly compare to routes I've used on the previous version until Draw is ready.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

Rick I can sort of understand the logic of deleting existing plugins from the master catalog for the next version of OCPN

What needs to be done to replace the entries in the catalog? Do we politely ssk you or do plugin developers have submit a PR to re-add them to the catalog.

Thanks.

I am deleting the pypilot alarm from watchdog. It does not work and freezes up opencpn watchdog and vdr. I am not deleting the pypilot plugin though it needs testing and work.

You can submit a pr to me that fixes the pypilot alarm, submit it to sean but that wont get it inro PIM, or roll your own. Any of those are ok.

BTW my watchdog plugin version has now diverged from seans. I have tried 3 or 4 times to get them back together, and submitted conflicting pr to sean. This has been complicated by some renaming and removal of files and I havent been able to fix it, so we are just going to move forward.

Thanks Bill, now have WR working with Climatology 1.5 on MacOS. Like you, I use Draw extensively for Boundaries in WR, and basically I am out of business until Draw is fixed.

Watchdog 2.4.50 which removes the failing Pypilot Alarm will be pushed to OpenCPN 5.7.1 shortly.

If Sean or other Pypilot users wish to have support for the Pypilot Alarms in Watchdog, please fork my repository and submit a PR that works. It may be accepted. https://github.com/seandepagnier/wat...ent-1371747492

Hi Rick,

I cannot find an acknowledgement anywhere that opcn_draw.pi does not work under OpenCPN 5.7.1.2. Opcn_draw.pi appears under the Beta Plugin Catalogue, but, it causes 5.7.1 to crash after draw has been installed. Is this plugin being worked on and is John Gough still involved? I am using a MacBook Pro with macOS Monterey.

OpenCPN is useless to me if I cannot use Boundaries, and Boundaries require opcn_draw.

Kevinvh, we have beene working on this problem with opcn_draw.

Under MacOS monterey Ocpn_draw_pi version 1.8.19 causes Opencpn to crash.

Please attach a file with the ocpn_draw opencpn.log information and describe the problem more completely. Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

BTW, users should be advising here when a plugin does or doesn't work and what OS is being used. We donot have the means or time to test plugins on every platform, it is the responsibility of beta users to keep us informed.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

Here you are Rick - my report on the OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0 issue.

2018 MacBook Pro; Monterey 12.6;2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7; 16 GB RAM.

WMM 1.1 - OK
GRIB 4.1 - OK
ChartDownloaded 1.4 - OK
Climatology 1.5 - OK
WeatherRouting 1.13 - OK
OCPN Draw 1.8.19.0 - Fail
Watchdog - I have not tested Watchdog because it requires OCPN Draw 1.8.19.0

OCPN DRAW ISSUE
Screenshot 1 shows Grib and WR working fine without Boundaries (ie. before installing OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0). Note that WR is useless without Boundaries
Screenshot 2 shows about to install OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0
Screenshot 3 shows message after installing OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0. OpenCPN 5.7.1.2 crashes when "OK" pressed
Screenshot 4 shows message after restarting OpenCPN 5.7.1.2. Click "OK" and continue as normal
Screenshot 5 shows OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0 has not been enabled
Screenshot 6 shows message if OPCN Draw 1.8.19.0 is enabled. OpenCPN 5.7.1.2 crashes when "OK" pressed

opencpn.log and opencpn.log.log attached (don't forget to remove the .pdf extension)
