Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

Updating Engine Dashboard to support in-built NMEA 2000 support in current beta release.

Two errors in CircleCI builds.

For Flatpak ARM64

+ '[' stable = beta ']'
+ flatpak install --user -y flathub org.freedesktop.Sdk//20.08
error: Nothing matches org.freedesktop.Sdk in remote flathub

Exited with code exit status 1
CircleCI received exit code 1

and for flatpak-x86-2008

FB: Running: flatpak info --show-location --arch=x86_64 org.freedesktop.Sdk//20.08 beta
FB: Running: flatpak info --arch=x86_64 --show-commit org.opencpn.OpenCPN beta
error: org.opencpn.OpenCPN/x86_64/beta not installed
Failed to init: Unable to find runtime org.opencpn.OpenCPN version beta
make[3]: *** [CMakeFiles/flatpak-build.dir/build.make:61: CMakeFiles/flatpak-build] Error 1

Note that flatpak-x86-2008-beta built successfully.

Are these flatpak versions no longer supported or is some different configuration required ?

Thanks.

Steve...
Flatpak is now at SDK-22.08, and that is what OCPN core and other plugins are using.

Take a look at the build logs for o-charts_pi, for example.

Thanks Kevin this is very helpful. Ocpn_draw is in RX and Jon is fixing it. WR does not require Ocpn_draw. The use of boundaries is a feature an option.

It is good to know whicj ones work too! Very helpful. Thank you.

BTW Jon is sailing so it may take 3 weeks.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

The TestPlugin_pi Template FE2 plugins are using an incorrect <target> which will result in errors or not being accepted by OpenCPN PIM (Plugin Manager). This affects all Ubuntu, Linux and RPI users.

We will initiate a fix at some point hopefully soon and then push TestPlugin_pi to the PIM Beta Catalog for Testing of all supported OS and propose to implement the following for FE2 Templated Plugins:
  1. Run a complete trial using Testplugin_pi pushed to Beta Catalog.
  2. For every OS supported, have at least 2 people confirm operation of TestPlugin_pi without failures. User Testers will confirm testing via a CF "Testing thread for Testplugin".
  3. To provide incentive for users to test, I am advising that if TestPlugin_pi for a given OS is not tested by the due date posted, that NO FE2 plugins will be included for that OS.
  4. Once all OS pass, then we can build plugins with the testplugin template.
  5. I propose that we initiate this process now, for the current situation.
This is a complex process and there are enough places for things to go wrong that we must absolutely rely on USERS TO TEST and REPORT. We normally do not have multiple machines and OS and must rely on USERS to be an important part of this process. OpenCPN is only as good as you guys are! Everyone had a part in this problem, including TESTERS.

Thanks Rick. Yes, I am aware that WR works without Draw and Boundaries. Unfortunately, I sail in areas with literally hundreds of uncharted coral reefs around me and Boundaries are required around them for WR to be useful.

I will continue to use OpenCPN 5.6.2 until Draw is sorted. I also use LuckGrib for WR and it works great with Boundaries.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

OD 1.8.20.0 is a test to see if using wx32 LoadSVG with scaling will work. This was generated for testing with Win 10. If the icons not found error still occurs with this version then the attempted fix did not work.

Looking at the log it would appear that OCPN crashed after OD was initialised. There is/was and issue with OpenGL being required by OCPN and causing a crash within OCPN if it was not found. I only have an only MacOS runtime, not development environment, so cannot really test MacOS versions of the plugin, I need others to do this, and, if problems are found to run a debugger to identify where the issue may be.

There appear to be a few issues with OCPN and associated plugins with this beta and they may take a while to sort out. Any help finding the issues AND delving into what may be the causes will help sort these out. Currently there are over 18 different environments being built and tested.

Kevin, try Ocpn_Draw 1.8.20 in the PIM Beta Catalog please. It works for me although I have graphic issues due to my high res screen. It loads and functions ok for me but the menus, windows and Icons are too big.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

I've checked weather routing using Ocpn_Draw 1.8.20 in the PIM Beta Catalog. It ran without errors with/without boundaries, with/without gribs, and running multiple simultaneous projections with boundaries.

Everything I use it for is still working.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #1 - Plugins

This is the issue that is being worked on. The change to wx32 appears to have changed the way that default icon sizes are handled. The icons that are referred to are the ones in the OD toolbar. The OCPN toolbar icons for OD should be OK and the plugin should work, just the OD toolbar will not be populated. This version was one created to fix the issue on windows. It will need to be investigated as to why MacOS is not working. What version of MacOS are you using?
