Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

Many Improvements appreciated! (on my Android 5.0 lollipop Acer liquid "Z22" 4" screen)

I was actually able to use the advanced gui dialogues in the toolbox by dragging the "core window?" along to get at settings. That is great!

But this thread is about , so...

here's an oddityClick image for larger version

Name:	Screenshot_2015-07-08-08-33-54.png

I blew the user interface up so the effect is exaggerated.
If you want to reproduce this, tap the handle to make the toolbar disappear/minimise and then restore it. The last button used will be as shown.

and a very small whine:

NOT forgetting I am using a 4" screen, in the toolbox/charts dialogue it's a little difficult to get to the "Tides" tab from "Chart Groups" where a body might want to load their own. Those little arrow thingies to scroll to a tab to the right or left are pretty small wherever they might be needed.

But in tides that's a wasted effort anyways, as my tides overlap the originals and I don't think I can hide/disable the originals... except with an easy usr-hack that is.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

Installed 4.1.705 on my 2012 Nexus 7 (Android 5.1.1). Initial results look really good. My thanks and congratulations to those involved. Any plans for AIS?

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

AIS is working without limitations.

You will need to enter in expert mode of OCPN

Just feed a NMEA AIS data stream into your Android device.
This can be done by WiFi if you have a WiFi source for the AIS or with a Serial-USB adapter. Same as for the desktop versions. Please refer to the manual how the communication settings should look like.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

joel...maybe try moving navobj.xmls and backups out of the "\Android\data\org.opencpn.opencpn\files" folder for now.... I think They are thing that would have been loaded when O-A stopped.

Meanwhile, things go well on my L A R G E R lenovo tablet Android 4.0.~.
I installed " '705" overtop of last beta and it worked well I think. The arrow/scrollers I mentioned above ^( in the advanced mode toolbox) are still too small to use on this 7" tablet ...too narrow on the gui

I still see a limit to the amount of users' own icons...that is,three, of my own plus the included ones.
Oh! wait! Well-that's odd- icons selection is working now on the third startup of O-A when I ...did something...
apparently, what I did to make it work was to be in "Expert mode"? nope. I'm back to limited selection again

AHA! I have it. I must choose one of the three of my custom icons offered FIRST at the bottom of the list. and only then, later, I get the larger selection of my own icons...oddity!

Ref post #8, Hasn't anyone else experienced varnishing navigational objects that only fade out when within certain regions of the screen.

In Dutch waters most of them are not varnished at all but just painted (red, green, yellow & black)

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

Autocorrect made it again to a good fun. I wrote vanishing. :-B. In the alpha version the phenomenon took place at the center of the screen. If the problem region keeps moving up, the sector lights will dissappear when they should, i.e., no problem.

Not yet. I have tried "Standard" and "Mariner's Standard" at various detail levels and it seems fine. Not seeing anything disappear as I move the chart around.

Found an Oddity though...when sliding the CM93 Detail Level slider button, sometimes the whole "page" moves with the slider button.
find it here in Advanced Mode: Toolbox/Charts/Vector Chart Display

By the way, it's really nice I don't see the dumb wxwidgets bug alert all the time now!
just occasionally it pops up when I'm doing unnaturally "intense " stuff
