Kerrydeare,

does your question perhaps relate to this two posts:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1859145
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1863166

which tell about obstacles to place the files into the correct places under Android?
And how it is is solved..

haven't been able to do it on the android 5.0 phone yet but perhaps removing the internal gps from Connections MIGHT do it.

On my 10" Motorola Xoom pinch and zooming the chart increases the size of everything, including menus activated by long pressing. Long press to open the menu then pinch & zoom in on it...

Unless there's a hack somewhere to change this programmatically, I don't think you can, at least not with options available to the average user.

Reading the user manual for my LG tablet, there is an option available at Home | Display | Home Touch Buttons that allows me to change the background color of the bottom tab from white to black.

This solves my night vision problem noted previously.

And, it answers the question as to where the lower boundary of available real estate on the tablet is located.

'Hoy testers...

Once more:
I am trying to inventory who has trouble with displaying grid lines, and fading over part of the screen. Like this:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...hmentid=105738

So far I have:

Acer Z220
Samsung GalaxyTab
Sony Z3 Compact
Sony SGP512

Anyone else?

I'd really like to get my hands on one of these devices. Too bad the Z220 is not sold in US yet. So lets have some more candidates.

Thanks
Dave

Neat feature, definitely not available on my LG 7inch

Makes me wonder how many different 'flavors' of android UI's there are in the world. I would think the pinch-zoom would be standard behavior.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

BLUETOOTH GPS is available so...it has to be tried here is an (I hope) how to:
not neccesarily in this order and improvements/corrections are welcome
-I have developers options available here- Allow Mock locations is enabled. so you better find that on your device first. restart your tablet if not already enabled. I still don't know if it's needed,
Edit: NOT Required here, it seems
but I know you have to restart the tablet if you change it per the following...

-clear all the connections in Opencpn. Be sure the un-advanced menu is also unchecked as to internal device gps.
-shut O down
-turn off device's "location" gps
-turn on your bluetooth gps and be sure you are paired to it. Not sure if device visibility is important but I have it ON, not hidden.
-bluetooth gps will not show a blinking blue light until something is talking to it. There should be no blue light until O alone talks to it...should not be necessary but to avoid immediate confusion, let it get a fix. Most do this on their own, I think, but whatever carry on afterawhile....
-goto O's advanced mode, toolbox /connections click the ADD connection button then choose bluetooth serialport or whatever.
-click Scan button and WAIT. your device may already show in the dropdown but if it is saying "scanning" above, keep waiting til it says "Finished"
-then, click "Apply"

Hopefully at this point, behind the dialogue you can see the gps indicator show some green bars!
also, your BT gps shows up in the connections list
-click OK
and
Hurray! I hope! I've done this twice on the A4.0.4 tablet so far...screwing it up, changing back to internal reversing steps in between to see if it indeed works. it is pretty touchy.

There is no "intermediary" Bluetoothgps app installed on this tablet

It doesn't work that way on my Xoom, pinch zoom works great on the chart, but once you open a menu it no longer pinch zooms. What Android version are you running? I'm on the stock 4.1.2.

Curious, Eric

Haven't seen a reply from anyone else, and I think I was able to reproduce the issue you mentioned. There is some consistency in how and where the lat / long lines disappear when panning.

I picked up the ATT LG tablet as part of a promotion when I upgraded my cell phone. The tablet was free, still had to pay for data plan.

See attached screen prints.

Found this while loading ENC chart...falls under being obsessive about UI and general drivability.

Progress bar clicked along nicely, but at some point it was redrawn slightly askew.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.718

Hi,
In the last two betas 705 and 718 running under ubuntu I have an issue with the 'Options/Vector Chart Display'. Each time I open it and then click 'OK' more an more of the settings under "Mariners Standard's" become unchecked. See attachments. Also, each time I open the Options panel I get the following error messages:
Code:
(opencpn:26338): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 15

(opencpn:26338): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 15

(opencpn:26338): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 15

(opencpn:26338): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 15
I am now getting one other effect, when filling in a boundary the z-order, or the screen size being give seems to be wrong. See the last small attachemet where you can see the cross hatching on the chart bar at the bottom. This occurs under windows as well. Also note that the boat icon (nothing to do with the draw plugin) also gets affected the same.

RSkillings....

Thanks for the pix. You definitely have the fading feature display issue discussed.

What exact model is your LG phone, please?

Thanks
Dave
