OpenCPN for Android not showing cm93 correctly anymore

This post is about Open CPN for Android, Dave Register's paid version 5.8.4.

I've recently noticed that the cm93 charts don't display in a certain box, roughly corresponding to the North Atlantic region. See the the screenshots attached.

I've noticed the same problem (slightly worse), on the OpenCPN Android free version, which used to work fine. By the way, the free app seems to be no longer available on the Play Store, with no surprise. Also, I use the same cm93 charts on OpenCPN for Windows, and they work fine.

I've tried to scan and update the database, and forced a full database rebuild. I also removed and re-migrated the charts folder. No luck.

I find it very odd as the area that doesn't work is a box well-defined (as if it was disabled) and it happened out of the blue. I've used these cm93 charts in the past without issues (not for navigation purposes, of course!)

Any ideas?

Looks as though the cm93 chartset is corrupt, and missing at least one small scale cell.
To confirm, is it possible to zoom in on the gray area, and see larger scale charts?


Perhaps a full reload of the cm93 dataset is required.

Oh, hi Dave! I could have not hoped for a better person to reply! :-)

Shame on me for not suspecting a corrupted file. I have no idea how that folder I've used for many years got corrupted. Indeed, replacing the cm93 folder with another version I had solved the issue.
