It won’t let me setup a new account.

OpenCPN does not require a user name or password. Perhaps your computer does?

Re: OpenCPN General

Hi All,
I sent an message to the email for Maison Automatique (which is the contact info for the crappy android version) asking if he would take down his version. An automated response says the account is not monitored. It also directs people to use Cruisers Forum for support (!). Below is the email but I removed Jens' personal email address as I don't think it's cool to post someone else's address publicly -- even though what he's doing isn't cool. So... if you send an email to

maison.automatique@gmail.com

you'll get the autoreply email yourself and then can send an email to Jens directly asking if he will please remove his version from the Play Store. Perhaps if he gets enough polite requests he will relent and everyone's life will be better for not wasting time trying to support that version.

Thanks all!
Cheers,
Bruce

Thank you for your email to Maison Automatique.

Re: OpenCPN General

The plugin Ocpn_Draw can do a lot.

Again the manual may help.

Re: OpenCPN General

I'm getting an https error when I try to get to the www.opencpn.org site. Tried all three primary browsers. Anyone else having this issue?

It looks like the webpage at https://www.opencpn.org/ might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Re: OpenCPN General

Works just fine for me and several testing services I had a look at. The last time it was down according to the external monitoring I have set up for it was for 9 minutes in August 2023.
If you really are in Solomon Islands, we have already seen people having temporary problems to reach it from the same general area, just try later.

Apple Questions may be coming soon.

Until now, Apple's proprietary store was the only way, other than illegal sideloading, for users to download apps onto their iPhones and iPads. But that's all about to change in Europe, where iOS users will be able to download third-party app stores, starting with the iOS 17.4 update, which was announced Thursday and is rolling out in March.

Hi all, I'm on windows 10 opencpn newest version,
Suddenly I lost the ability to activate OpenGl, option is grayed out in Settings and in Radar options screen restarted and reloaded Radar plugin.
It started after I had a freeze on Radar plugin.

Try this:
- Start OpenCPN.
- Click the About button (question mark with circle)
- Look for the path to the Config File.
- I can click the path and have it open in Notepad. If that doesn't work, open Notepad and File/Open to the config file.
- SHUTDOWN OPENCPN BEFORE CHANGING. If you make changes to config and then shutdown opencpn, it will overwrite the changes you just made.
- Look for an entry "DisableOpenGL". It should be equal to 0. If it is equal to 1, change to 0 and save.

Yes, OpenCPN has a habit of overwriting the config file, chnaging things, losing all your maps etc.

you can save a current template from the settings page, but, whether it will agree to load it again is 50:50 ... I had the same issue yesterday and reloading my old working template just causes it to crash.

My advice (which works for me anyway) ... once I have it set up and working I take a backup of the settings file and either have a small script to copy it back ... or simply change the permissions on the settings file to read only to stop OpenCPN messing with it. A little extreme, but, it saves a lot of frustration.

I wouldn't say that's a know "habit" of OCPN. If so it's a bug and we may need a reproducible sequence when and how it happens.

But, as mentioned above, if you power of a RPi without having closed running programs any open file may be corrupted.
