Re: OpenCPN General

Thank you very much for your reply: It still does not display the canadian charts. I've installed 4.1.1329 and followed the instructions in the 2 other threads by installing the encryption file first then closing and reopening to install the chartkit file and nothing happens. I do not see anywhere the BSB4 pluggin folder. If that is the secret then i need to find first the BSB4 pluggin and know how to handle it. In the toolbox under pluggins I have Grib 3.0, chartdownloader 1.2 and WMM 1.1 and all are enabled.

My OS is Win 10. and the NOAA charts still displays correctly.

I hope I can make it work because I paid good money to buy the CD of CDN charts. In 2014 I had installed those files on Win 7 machine and it displayed correctly. I hape i can make this work and help everyone else using win 10 in the process.

Thank you very much

Re: OpenCPN General

You are using the plug-in for the 4.1.x series, not the one for 4.0, aren't you?

I think I understood. You are using the old version of the plugin. This old version does not work, unless I am mistaken with the latest beta OpenCPN.

Possibly try downloading the one in this page:
Plugins for OpenCPN 4.1 | Official OpenCPN Homepage

But it is possible that the same therein, is outdated. (For example, the NV-Verlag plugin, contained therein, is outdated)

It might be a better idea:
- To try to put a private message to Bobofthenorth and ask him about it.
- To interview Dave about it, putting a post in the thread of the 1329 release rather than in this thread too "general".

Re: OpenCPN General

@gille @fboz
Bdbcat recompiled BSB4 for version 4.1.x It was a bobofthenorth request on the Beta release thread. I will try to find it and put it on OpenCPN File thingie

None of the older 4.0 plugins work in OpenCPN v4.1.x because we changed to using a newer version of wxWidgets (3.0.2) which wipes out forward compatibility for the older plugins.

The downloads page has bsb4_pi-1.4-win32 compiled 2-1-2016 so I believe that is for v4.1.x and should work.

i have also uploaded it to OpenCPN File Thingie under folder 4.1.1329 PI Win.

This affects only Windows and Linux but not Mac OS X where some times longer a newer wxWidgets was needed.

OpenCPN web site down for (at least) Crome and Explorer browsers

lots of warnings like
Warning: Table './will_ocpn/users' is marked as crashed and should be repaired query: SELECT u.*, s.* FROM users u INNER JOIN sessions s ON u.uid = s.uid WHERE s.sid = 'ad78982abff7210446314d889ab047e2' in /home/will/drupal-6.37/includes/database.mysqli.inc on line 134

Re: OpenCPN General

Hi- I have two openCPN questions. I'm plotting routes for a future date, and I want to check the currents. When I examine a current - the window pops up with today's date. I'm looking at dates that are 5 months in the future, so trying to hit "next" 150 times to get there is painful. Is there anyway to set the date?

Also - I'm new. Is there a way to have the software include the current speed when it is calculating the time it takes to complete a route? It seems to simply use the speed that I set, as opposed to compensate speed +/- current.

Thanks in advance.

Re: OpenCPN General

Dave,

Suggest looking at the OTcurrent plugin. This allows a selection of date/time in the future. Should be fairly self-explanatory, but there is a description in the manual.

Re: OpenCPN General

I'm using W7 and need a port splitter, preferably free. I can't remember which one I used before.

Any suggestions?

Port splitter ? - do you mean you mean you need to use the NMEA input to the PC -> output to other units ? If so you can do this from Opencpn's connections window.

I'm probably using the wrong terminology. I want to share the output from a COM port with two different applications
