Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

The Navico radar page is also missing in action, completely. It's a pity cause I had started on documenting the v2 agent, I guess nothing can be done about that?

My stored link was:
http://opencpn.org/ocpn/Plugins_exte...vico-broadband
(or)
http://opencpn.org/ocpn/node/271

Still present is:
Debugging | Official OpenCPN Homepage
(but not linked AFAICS)

Dave

The "primary" link "About" is missing.
The primary link "Donate", which is a link to an "anchor"on the "About" page, does not work either ......

Thanks!!!!

Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

2 quick questions:
1. Why does Eben keep capitalising "PEN"?
2. I'm not familiar with this "Space Marshalls 2" but are we sure that an "infinity everything generator" plugin for OpenCPN wouldn't come in handy?

Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

muttnik,
Please explain. Where does PEN occur? and Space Generators 2 ...infinity everything?
Is this an allegorical statement? I'm completely in the dark.

1. Posts #35 and #38. Confused by the capitalisation unless it means something that I don't realise it means
2. Screenshot of what the interlopers had posted on the opencpn web site from Gerhard's post #2

The first one is an actual question. The second is slightly less funny than it was after the second beer after a very long day sailing yesterday considering that people may not appreciate light-hearted comments relating to something that has destroyed their hard work. So sorry for that...

Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

Yes I'm aware of what penetration (and the slightly annoying abbreviation (lower case) "pen") tests are, it was the capitalisation that was confusing me but we're a long way off topic so probably best left...

Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

Don't know how pen test is any different than what I did earlier, and was asked to remove the posts with the results.

Re: OpenCPN Homepage hacked

They can check their server logs to see if someone has admin credentials.

Like one other post said, restore from back-up, and change all passwords, especially anyone with elevated privileges.

Edit: the problem with restoring from back-ups is if there is a bot in the back-up code that calls out to a control machine or is on a timer, you would be restoring the original problem.
