OpenCPN menu bar missing

I know there are old threads on this, but I have installed 5.6 on a Mac and a Windows machine. Neither are showing the menu bar. On the Windows machine, under User Interface, there is a check box for Show Menu Bar, but even though checked, it is not showing. On the Mac, there is no check box for Menu Bar and it is not showing. Any ideas?

Are running perhaps in full screen mode?

If one were in “Full Screen Mode” how would you exit?

On the Mac, cursor in the upper edge and then the buttons. The green one.

I tried toggling out of full screen/into full screen on the MAC but nothing changed. [see images]

What is a Flyspray task?

On your second screen shot there is the menu now.
Or is there something else you refer to?

The "menu bar" from the docs/videos I have seen is a horizontal bar with lots of colored icons to select from.
What is showing is what I believe is the "tool bar", vertical on the left of the screen.

Then you are talking about the tool bar.
You can dock it horinzontaly or vertically.
The appearance of the icons has changed since some time and most show now a more "modern" image. When adding plug-ins, more icons may appear.
Richt click on the tool bar to enable/disable icons.

I have same problem on a Win10 PC
I cannot persuade the menu bar to display. (i.e. the horizontal bar with a dozen or so coloured buttons, NOT the toolbar, I have that OK)
Did you ever find a solution?

Have you got it ticked in "Options - User Interface"?

The "menu bar" is now just a single line of text, not buttons - all the old buttons are now in one of the two toolbars (Hamburgers top left and bottom right).

I am looking for the bar in the attached Menubar.jpg
I see only the line with "Navigate View ...."

If the coloured buttons are no longer existing, how to download GRIBS and other things that we could do in version 4 with the buttons?

Note that many of the screen shots in v5.6.2 Help are still from v4.8 and they erroneously show the old menu/tool bar buttons.

That's all there is for a menu now. Everything you want to do is now in the toolbars.

If you have the Grib plugin enabled, it's in the toolbar.
