OpenCPN on Raspberry PI 3 with O-Charts

I have been running Open CPN on my boat for 5-6 years now. However the charts I have are very old. I recently heard that current charts are available at a very moderate price from O-charts. I see that the O-charts need OpenCPN 5.6 or later.
I am not that computer literate to be able to navigate my way through installing all this, last installation was using OpenPlotter.
So the questions are:
Will it work?
Does Openplotter have Version 5.6 OpenCPN now?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yes, Openplotter does come with the actual version of OpenCPN and does support the required o-charts plug-in.

Thanks for the help BCN, I have hit a brick wall with the process, I wonder if you or any others can help?
I am using the Raspberry Pi imager to upload the Openplotter image to the PI SD card. The card has the Raspbian OS on it. The image says all data on the destination file will be erased, won't this erase the OS from the card?

The image versions of Openplotter include the OS, you image the SD card and get the OS plus the applications. There are advanced versions that allow you to install into another OS. SD cards are cheap, if you want to keep your current OS card for some reason put Openplotter on a new card.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI 3 with O-Charts

Thanks for all the help. PI is loaded with version 5.6 OpenCPN. YIPPEEE!

Now I am trying to get my old GPS puck to work with it. I have tried to use the configuration that was on my old version but no go. Initially it come up with device not found, fixed that by changing to a different port and then different priority. Still no go. When I look at the NMEA bug window, there are no sentences coming through. It works on the old system OK. I have attached a screen shot of the connections window.

Cheers

Peter..
To see your USB ports use a command window:
lsusb
for all connections.

ls -l /dev/serial/by-id
for serial connections only - what you're looking for? (It may not be named "USB")

If you've several just list with or without the USB connected and study what's changed.

Are your sure about the baud rate 9600? Try 4800.

Thanks Hakan,
I could see the connections through that and I tried each USB and at 2400/4800/9600 baud. It was working previously at 9600, that's why I selected that. Anyhow drawn a blank here.
