OpenCPN on Raspberry PI problem

Hi

I've only just started using OpenCPN on my raspberrypi and I was rather silly and went into the advanced tab and decided to enable OpenGL acceleration. The next result was that OpenCPN immediately closed and will no longer start.

Would you be able to tell me where the configuration file is so I can edit and disable this feature. I'm totally stuck on where in the PI the file is.

I'd appreciate your help.

Many thanks
Peter

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI problem

On a linux system, the configuration file is in
Code:
~/.opencpn/
or if you prefer in
Code:
/home/user/.opencpn
Note that this directory is usually invisible.

In case you don't want to reinvent the wheel - what is always an option - the OpenPlotter project might be a way:

Home | Sailoog

OpenCPN is the core component and there are a lot of other goodies.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI problem

Thanks

Thats exactly what I used. Very easy. Downloaded Noobs and all was simple.. My bad I started 'playing' and pressed the OpenGL HW acceleration option within advanced settings and that killed that app...

All fixed now and openCPN is booting ok.

I hadn't realised what a pain it was going to be trying to get UK charts for OpenCPN. Gutted if I can't get over this chart challenge

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI problem

Well that works!

If thats going to give as much detail as admiralty or other than I'm going to try and get Nmea and AIS added to pi whilst waiting..

Android and Apple tablets are great but the pi allows far more innovation - very interested by what you're doing..

I need to start getting up to speed.. Couple of weeks should be perfect!

You can update the Pi with the latest kernel 4.9.11 (not yet official)
sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update
and the latest version
sudo apt dist-upgrade

and of course the normal updates:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

You can even use accellerated video. Works here, but it is still not perfect.

Re: OpenCPN on Raspberry PI problem

Just have a look at the oeSENC thread. Chart sets released and live since more than a week.

You will need the oeSENC plug-in (and OCPN 4.6) and for the charts visit o-charts.org.

In the next days the OpenPlotter version 1.0 is expected and will make updates very easy. So perhaps another thread you might want to pay attention for.

Many thanks. This isn't my main forum and I don't follow every thread so I had missed that. Very helpful.
