4.2 for linux / raspberry is not in the official PPA.

First, you will have to go to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and delete any files mentioning opencpn. ( use sudo to be able to edit any files here)
Then follow instructions in the post linked under.

I think you are using OpenPlotter:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

delete:

deb Index of /opencpn/opencpn/ubuntu trusty main
deb-src Index of /opencpn/opencpn/ubuntu trusty main

and add:

deb Index of /nohal/opencpn/ubuntu trusty main

Save and type in a terminal:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 9C18FD9F
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install opencpn

Tested OpenCPN 4.0 using the new OpenGL driver. It works really well.

did not run in my DVI monitor. Tried it with VNC. In OpenCPN it seems no need to switch OpenGL on.

Still no means found to get my DVI monitor running. Colour square on the screen and then monitor stops.

Works very good this latest Raspian Version. Also with OpenGL switched off.

If switched on, it only works in the vnc remote monitor mode. And then you can OpenCPN 4.2 also put in the OpenGL modus.

It is still experimental, but it works and is faster then before.

I had a similar problem with a vga moniter, it turned out to be a power problem, check the voltage between gpio pins ground & 5V.
I had to turn the voltage up a little to get 5v between those pins, since then no problems. (on my setup USB power comes from a variable dc power supply)

I upgraded to 4.2 with help of Sailoog and Petter

I no have no plugins. They are all listed but greyed out. (Even those which I believe are installed with the core build ?
Any ideas what I did wrong ?

Most, if not all, of the available plugins are listed under the plugin tab but all are greyed out with no "Enable" button visible
(Except those that were previously installed in my ver 4.0 installation)

Update - Conachair suggested I check window width and sure enough if I pull the window open to its max (Approx 90% of full screen width) I can just see the enable button peeking out.
So now I can enable the plugins but I cant really see the enable buttons properly. So, I seem to have a display window problem and not a plugin problem

Other tabs in the options menu do seem to autosize correctly

Could be a "red herring" but I did try to install the new OpenGL driver but it didnt seem to work so Ive simply disabled it in the display/advanced menu

Yes, you are obviously missing wxWidgets and apt-get told you that it is not able to find and install it in the lines starting with "E:". What exactly is your Debian version? You should definitely not have this problem with Jessie?

Maybe this new driver is a solution, but 4-6fps isn't that good. I am getting 25-30 fps at 1280x800 with the bcmhost driver, and it probably uses less power too.

I could never get that git to work with opencpn - with opengl enabled in O there was just a white screen. Am I doing something wrong?
