OpenCPN palette colors messed up

For no apparent reason, the palette colors on my OpenCPN are all messed up. This is version 5.2.4 on Rpi4. It has been running fine for more than a year.
This is not a night mode issue which I tried. I also tried running OpenCPN in safe mode without success.

Is there a particular section in opencpn.conf file where should I look for corrupt settings or something?

I tried clicking on the nite mode few times to take the screenshoot and lo and behold now it is back to normal.

I swear to god I tried it several times before and it did not seem to make a difference. I think this setting was stuck somewhere in cache or settings.
