Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

matt....

dlls uploaded to the Forum are saved (usually) with .pdf extension. They need to be simply renamed to the appropriate .dll after downloading.

Still wonder why this Forum won't allow .dll uploads.....

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Hi Dave,
For some reason, no matter how we tried to rename, it always came up as a.pdf
Serge led us to the right place, so thanks Serge.
By the way since 1.3 is a beta, should I debug on 1.2 and update later?
Thanks, Matt

Before you rename, do you see a ".pdf" on the end? If not, you have to change your settings to allow you to see file extensions.

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

I have updated the link on PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage
The dll for version 1.3 can now be downloaded directly, without any renaming.

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Hi all,
I've updated my branch version of BR24G to incorporate guard zones. To enable them you right click and select "Radar Control" then select a Zone. The pop-up switches to the Alarm Zone definition block. You can enter data directly else position the cursor at upper left corner of the zone and right click then select "Set Alarm Point" then do the same for the lower right corner. Zones are circular arcs going clockwise. For an alarm sound you need to add a "RadarAlertAudioFile=C:\\Program Files\\OpenCPN\\sounds\\Radar Alert.wav" in the ini file and of course have a wav file with the desired alarm. (Note: the alarm will start every minute there's an alarm condition but only run as long as the wav file.)

Hasta,
Dave C.

Sounds great! Where can we find a copy of your Navico radar plugin?

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

I replied to the email but don't know if that'll print here so this ...
It's at https://github.com/cowelld . One word though is that I've had issues trying to build it with Linux (Ubuntu). I haven't a good grasp of the cmake recipes to see where the problem is but the dll comes out fine with Windows on C++ Express. I've uploaded the "pdf" here. It's functional with O-CPN 3.2.2 .

No problem to build on 64 bits Ubuntu 13.10.
Can't test i though, more than just starting the plugin without a radar.
Here is the compiled plugin. Get rid of the ".pdf" bit and un-7zip!
libbr24radar_pi.7z.pdf

Great work. Does anyone know how to get this working in a Mac environment? (i.e. instructions on how to compile for Mac or a link to a compiled version)

Thanks for the .so file. I'll try it on a laptop with 64 bit Ubuntu. When doing the testing and not near the boat I use PlayCap from Signal 11 (free download) with a Wireshark recording. There's one glitch with the setup in that NMEA data isn't available and so the radar image won't match the chart image. I'd like to find a PlayCap equivalent to send the radar data AND spoof the addressing for the NMEA data. (I use ethernet for both data streams to OCPN from a SIMRAD NSS7 and a BR24.)

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Hi Dave, Tried the new Dll - get the radar guard zones setup now, but it looks like an issue with the radar range now. Select say 100yards (metric would be nice!!) and get back - ridiculous ranges - like 44000??? Is it just me?

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Hi Dave and all,
We installed the scanner, ran the cables, configured the Amphenol adapter with a switch, under toolkit on OCPN, enabled OpenGL, set the PC's network adapter to 172.16.1.1, 255.255.240.0, but when we click the radar control button from default 'slave' to 'master', get the following error:
---------------------------
gradar_pi message
---------------------------
The Radar Overlay PlugIn is unable to
directly control the radar scanner.

Scanner is located at ip address: 172.16.2.0

Interfaces available on this computer are:
10.50.10.123/24
127.0.0.18

Additionally, the network adapter says we have a cable unplugged. We plugged the cable into our wifi router with the Amp adapter, and it recognized it correctly, but when we plug into the scanner, it says the cable is unplugged.
So either we have a s/w problem, a cable is unplugged at the radar scanner, or the scanner is DOA.
Suggestions?
Thanks for listening to my whining.
Matt

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Forgot to mention:
On the gradar_pi.log, we get headings followed by :
plugin state [S] searching[1] scanner state unknown [0]
