OpenCPN V3.2 KML copy

Hello everyone
I'm still using OpenCPN V3.2
I want to export a route as KML. When I click "copy as KML" the window closes and nothing happens. I can't find a KML file on my computer either. I guess I need to load a KML plugin.
My question:
1. Do I need a KML plugin?
2. If so: where can I get the plugin for version 3.2?

You don't need any plugin. "Copy as KML" does not create any file anywhere, it copies the KML code to the clipboard. You can then paste it to any other program, eg. a text editor of your choice.

then i need to convert the text / data to KML format?

The text you get is KML, you don't need to convert it to anything further.
