Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

The OpenCpn 5.9.1 and 5.9.2 are difficult to removed and can not be install other than parallel. So it is with the last couple of version in Cloudsmith of David Register. The system is Windows 10. Why is it so?

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

I can send you a new log file with the 5.9.0-0+1704......; but not an old one.
Many thanks for help. Nothing was change in my Windows 10 to my knowledge.
Again the 5.9.0-0+1704 can install only in parallel and not as an update anymore. I had to delete manually part of the previous installation to replace the previous one. Am I the only one having that trouble?

P_Dub..
No similar problem on any of my W10.
I can without trouble update/downgrade.
re: "delete manually part of" ?
All folders are not "emptied" but that's not needed what I can see. Or do you have any special purpose to clean OpenCPN folders?

In order to be able to install delete all api down zlib1.dll, in opencpn folder.
That is the only way to be able to do it.

Is there a 5.9.2 beta? Where is it and where is its availability announced?

Win10. Uninstall did not completely remove the 5.9.1 folder here. When I tried to manually delete the folder I was denied access. Needed to re-start the pc and then deletion was possible.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

By the way, 5.9.1 GREATLY improved stability on my W11 Pro nav computer that runs 24x7 (over 5.8.4). I have been struggling since commissioning this computer 8 months ago, with the computer seemingly running out of memory and some programs that run OK right after a reboot failing to run with weird errors after Windows has been running for awhile. I re-installed Windows 11 again and does the same thing. I finally set it up to automatically reboot every 8 hours and most issues have gone away.
But, with 5.9.1 installed, I haven't been having issues even when not rebooting frequently.
It's possible that some long-in-coming Windows fix that got installed automatically has caused better behavior, and not OpenCPN, but right now I'm loving 5.9.1 (and have just upgraded to 5.9.2).

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

When trying to install o-charts with the plugin in OpenCPN 5.9.0 for legacy Intel Macs on MacOS 10.13.6 I get API error codes 50 or 57. I was able to install licensed o-charts by off-line installation but when trying to update the chart list I still get the API error code 50. Is that a known issue and is there any fix available?

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

We have seen that at occasions.
But no pattern nor a way to provoke the errors in a defined way.

Usually closing OpenCPN and restarting will allow to install online then. Until the "57" does show up again....

Unfortunately, for me this error occurs all the time, an automatic update/ install is not possible, not either after restart. I have to use OpenCPN 5.6.2 on my MacBook Air, there it works.
