  • Starts fine in remote desktop + X11. But this not using the RealVNC bundled with Raspberry but the standard xrdp package available in the Debian repos.
  • Looks fine, see screenshot. @saillog: Is it about that you have a smaller screen resolution?
  • Cannot run Wayland, the orange pi kernel patches are yet not in place.
  • Using Flatpak

RDP is not an option because o-charts will not work, only in VNC.

Check out my screenshots for x11 and wayland. The menu bar is always vertical, probably because the piano is longer. Any ideas to fix this? This is a very popular 7" screen.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Tested this beta version (flatpak) on my RPI4 with Fedora40 OS and kernel 4.9.0. All works perfect with SignalK input and O-charts charts. There was only one problem, XYGrib is not available in Fedora.

But now the grib files can be downloaded from within the Grib-plugin.

Have you tried running charts by RDP? They shouldn't work.

Try to create a fingerprint to test.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Recently there is another beta option in the RaspiOS64 called Conect.

Works only on Wayland and you needs an internet connection.

Then you can use the RPI from everywhere in a browser, without the need of any VNC reader software.

Works on Ipad, Iphone etcetc. However not on a Chromebook.

The connection is made via a server in the UK.

Here on an Iphone

Works just fine

EDIT: BTW, I would not use the word "shouldn't" in this context, rather "should"

Oh really? That is strange, I used "shouldn't work" because this is a well known issue at o-charts. I will confirm it as soon as possible. Maybe this problem only affects Windows...

Anyway, the problems with 2-finger zoom and the tiny "Chart Panel Options" window worry me more than the Flatpak remote desktop problem because we are used to living with this mysterious and random problem.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Assuming you refer to Windows on the client side, remote desktops are mostly run against RPi servers I guess.

If so, I'm really suspicious about the bundled RealVNC server, closed source software is always a primary suspect. Note that I use xrdp which creates a separate session rather than mirroring a session displayed on a terminal
Agree the the two-finger zoom and the tiny Options windows is more of a priority.

I agree with Schnapy ( https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3907802 ) .

And I add that this poses a real problem by removing a large part of the possibilities from the Weather -Routing Plugin.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Gilletarom....

I think that we can agree that this is a problem with the WeatherRouting plugin, and not (probably) related to the OCPN Beta?
We should prove that by testing WR plugin on O5.8.4.

Thanks
Dave

"The grib overlay ..., but getting the data at cursor positions does not work and if I try to make a 'weather table' O is crashing."

Cannot reproduce here on deb 12. Any other testers showing this problem on GRIB_pi?

Thanks

Grib data at cursor and weather table works fine on Win10 and Rpi Bookworm

Sailoog...
Working with rPi 7" display questions.
From the screenshot, I notice that you are not using OpenGL.
Any particular reason?
Comments, anyone?

Just curious.

Please reread exactly what was written in post #32.
It's tiring !
What's the point of asking what's not working if you don't take it into account and dismiss the problem out of hand.

I indicated that it is impossible to modify the speed of a route (and this has nothing to do with WeatherRouting) because obviously, in the program, the speed of 6 knots is written "hard" and cannot therefore be modified...
