Digging a bit further shows that none of the settings selected in the Wizard do show up in the settings once OCPN started.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Hello Dave,

This morning I worked on the additional translation of the "opencpn.pot" file.

Regarding this item: "Looking for CAN interfaces...", does "CAN" designate what we usually call "The CAN bus"?

Dave,

The item "The connection settings can be changed at any time in the configuration Toolbox accessible by clicking on the" does not contain the word "Options".

Can we replace "Toolbox configuration" by "Options" or do you plan to remove the word "Options" which currently appears on the screen when you place the mouse on the "Gear" tool in the left vertical bar ?

A CAN bus is certainly involved but "interfaces" would rather refer to any USB(serial) or Network connection to a CAN(bus) interface.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Noticed on two different systems on board.

O Version 5.9.1-0+b67b627 Build 2024-06-10
Qualcomm 7c / 8 GB RAM / SSD / Windows 11 23H2 ARM64
and
RasPi5 / 8 Gb RAM / SSD NvMe / Bookworm x64

I use the to test from time to time the autopilot route in the program activating a route, no plugin, with the feature of the program itself.

activated the route and correctly displayed the windows with route data in O them click on the autopilot "track" and O sends the correct bearing to waypoint click on autopilot "track" and set the autopilot as per correct bearing, after some seconds it tries to steer to another course that is neither the next waypoint nor another known course ??????

I must deactivate the "track" feature and steer in "auto" to the correct course.

let me know if I must send any additional info, like a VDR file either conf file or whatever you consider useful.

I've tested alongside and sailing and don't know why it uses not to steer in a steady course (off course I have considered the track amendments that auto steering have to do, uses to not be big amounts of degrees)

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

I'm cruising more or less every day now using OCPN(Win10) and a (dated) AP following a route from O. I see no differences in 5.9 compared to 5.8.x and before.
We may have different APs but a commercial AP use to accept the course to steer (RMB/RMC/APB) once you press "track" or me "NAV" on the AP. After that OCPN can't change the course on the AP until next WP is activated and you have to press track/NAV again.

The only way to change the steered course is by XTE. Can you se in the console window if the XTE is strange? (Most APs don't accept to much adjustments here though.)

I'm using OCPN present Beta 5.9.1 and radar plugin from Plugin manager master catalog version 5.5.0.
However I move the PPI window all AIS targets are nicely following on there correct positions. Also shifting between head and course up is no problem.
Hi I downgraded Radar plugin to 5.5.0 an still if I move the background of Ppi the Ais targets doesn't follow my movements, on Opencpn 5.8.4.0 it is the same , didn't test it before on 5.8.4.0 as it shuts down when Ais targets shown on radar overlay

I must note that in the route windows is always displayed the correct range and bearing to the waypoint and nothing related to the exchanged course in the autopilot.
AP Raymarine Smart Pilot ST6002 connected Seatalk to Multiplexer (this translates the ST to NMEA 0183 bidireccional) and computer connected via UDP to multiplexer.
system is setup to send only $EC sentences to UDP.
and created two different UDP, one for input and another one for output in same port.
and that is not new, related to previous and actual versions of O.
