Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Special test request.

Anyone using a Garmin GPSMap device, such as:

GPSMAP 64, 65, 66, 67, 79 and 86

And using Windows?

If so, we need to know how this device identifies itself in OpenCPN on connections dialog.
Procedure:
1. Set Garmin device in "Garmin Spanner" mode.
2. Connect device to Windows PC. USB interface.
3. On the device, say "no" to request for mass storage access.
4. Start OCPN.
5. In Settings->Connections, do "Add new connection".
6. Select Serial connection.
7. Take a screenshot, showing the available connections in the "data port" dropdown list.
8. Post screenshot here.

Thanks in advance
Dave

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

One problem in Raspi4 & 5 (Bookworm 64)
OCPN 5.9.1

no plugin for it, but also tried with "Autopilot route" plugin and same behavior.

activate one route and displayed the attached picture where the test is hardly readable.
I go to setup - user interface and I cannot find to exchange the text color like in windows version that displayed in green, as per attachment.

CRASHING WHILE VIEWING CHARTS AROUND 180 DEGREES

When dragging the chart or switching between chart groups around 180 degrees, OCPN 5.9.1 beta crashes. Just did it 3 times. I tried similar actions when 180 degrees was not on screen and did not crash.

OpenCPN 5.9.1-0+b2cbf5a

Windows 11 Pro 22H2 OS build: 22621.3737

Lenovo laptop w/AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS Creator Edition 3.20 GHz

9 chart groups with CM93 charts and MBTiles.

Crash reports and logs here:

https://www.mediafire.com/file_premi...shRpt.zip/file

ZIP files not accepted in Cruisersforum thus the link above. If there is a better way, please let me know. Should I be putting this on github instead of here?
Thanks,
Bruce

Corsair63....

What you want to adjust is "Fonts->Console Value", and "Fonts->Console Legend".

Question is, why are the values changed here, and not default green? Is this a brand new installation?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Windows 11 first impressions. This is on my main nav computer, with many many layers files, CM93, many mbtiles (sat charts).
0. Install went fine.
1. Yay, track styles working again! This is YUGE for me, I have many tracks from many boats and there aren't enough colors that work well with sat charts to distinguish tracks without having different track styles.
2. The "billion" chart bubbles (piano keys) has gone away--this was a last minute adjustment in the last release as to how many piano keys were displayed in a given zoom. Probably a good thing. Will comment more when I've used it more.
3. Strange change: AIS target tracks are now "Dark Cyan" vs "Magenta" (in default mode)???. Was this a conscious decision, and why may I ask? Is there a config parameter I can change to set it back to Magenta?
4. Appeared to have an issue with Radar, not overlaying, but restarted everything and it's working OK. May have been operator error.
5. Adjusting CM93 chart offsets seems to work fine (there were problems with this in the last 2 releases).

It's a little scary upgrading my primary nav computer with beta software, but it really won't get a full workout without actually using it in real life.

I have also installed on my W10 laptop with no drama but haven't really used it yet. Both installs as an "upgrade".

I do have a Garmin 78, will try to do as asked a few posts back when I get time tomorrow.

With no charts (other than CM93) and no tracks and waypoints in that area, I can't reproduce. Not crashing at all dragging back and forth across Fiji and the dateline. Can load up charts and waypoints tomorrow and test again (1am here now).

Tried it again after Soggy Paws post to make sure. Still crashes. This time with a message.

ROUTE & MARK MANAGER: EXPORT SELECTED DOESN'T PROVIDE A PLACE FOR FILENAME.

In Route & Mark Manager, after selecting several marks and pressing "Export Selected..." the dialog box doesn't provide a text box for the filename. Or, it is not visible.

See screen shot.

TOOLBAR SIZE?

Is there a way to control the size of the icons on the toolbar. Super small on 5.9.1.
(See screenshot in previous post about "export selected")

Thanks,
Bruce

in both installation I had never touch anything but AIS text display.
the case of RPi5 is brand new installation.
I noticed it in the RPi4 too when show that on board and made a double check at home with the 4 and was the same colour.

Hi Dave,
tested on board and at home.
Windows version hasn't the option of "font colour"

in Raspi version, when you click on such button the color shown is green (displayed as I don't know which), but is not applied to the text windows, why ????.
but if you choose one color of the basics and alter a while in the colour wheel it shows the correct chosen.
