Re: OpenCPN v5.9.3 Beta test released

Gilleterom...

The "Startup Wizard" is a set of user interaction dialogs to help a very new user to setup OpenCPN for the first time. It is engaged when there is no OCPN config file found, as for a complete fresh installation.

It may be invoked manually at any later time by starting OCPN from command line as:

"OpenCPN -W"

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.3 Beta test released

In Beta 3 / Linux (Mint/Ubuntu) the tide stations and currents don't show up on screen. I click/unclick them in the settings from the lower right hamburger menu and nothing.

Last time I noticed these were working I think was in 5.9.1 . My system auto-updated from 5.9.1 up to 5.9.3 . Not sure if I used it when it had become 5.9.2, so can't confirm if this was happening on 5.9.2 .

Using opencpn/focal,now 1:5.9.3~beta3+dfsg-1ubuntu1~bpo2004+1 amd64

I'am also using Linux Mint Victoria and the tidal information works. But you must have the right files with the data in Tides and Tidal setting.

I'am using the Flatpak version.

Please note that using. .deb packages on Mint is unsupported. It might "work", but carries all sorts of risks.

The supported packaging on Mint is Flatpak.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.3 Beta test released

Bram, I had them before and I suppose they reside in opencpn's config folder under my home folder, so should be there.

I'll go check that later to confirm.

Leamas, understood on flatpak. Don't see how this would make a difference, but understood not supported.

If others are seeing tides and currents in 5.9.3 that's what matters to me, no new bug.

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.3 Beta test released

Just looked in my Ubuntu flatpak RPI version.

This is how the US tides shows and the files that must be available.
Lower is the US tidal data.

All...
New sources for crowdin translation have been uploaded today. There are one or two new/modified strings to translate.

We appreciate all your help with international localization of OpenCPN.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN v5.9.3 Beta test released

flpaoli....

Tides and currents:
I see that you have the "NO_US" tide station data loaded.

You may also want to add the US tide station data ( harmonics-dwf-20210110-free.tcd ) to your configuration.

Code:
ls -l /usr/local/share/opencpn/tcdata
total 10548
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3408893 Jun 30 23:24 harmonics-dwf-20210110-free.tcd
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7063872 Jun 30 23:24 HARMONICS_NO_US
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 318716 Jun 30 23:24 HARMONICS_NO_US.IDX
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 437 Jun 30 23:24 README.harmonics

Not sure why it is missing from your initial config.
Is ithis a fresh load of OpenCPN on a new system, or an upgrade from an earlier OpenCPN version?

Thanks
Dave

The supported packaging on Mint is Flatpak.

Now I'm confused.
Why shouldn't that work? Mint is binary compatible (it is just a clone without snapd)
