OPENCPN Ver 2.5.0

I am using Ubuntu 11.4 - 32 bit

I recently downloaded OPENCPN 2.5.0 and installed it using the Ubuntu system installer.

I had been using OPENCPN 2.4 with no problem

Now, when I select "Tools" the system locks up. I haven't tried any other tool bar selection. The only way to turn off OPENCPN is to restart the computer. (will in a sec)

Is there something I am doing/not doing?

Try to rename the opencpn.conf and restart.
Instructions were to find this file is n the help file that comes with the program or in the wiki documentation over at opencpn.org.
It would also be interesting to see your logfile.

There is never any need to restart Linux because of a program playing up.
This is treated in any basic text about Linux. The simplest way is to use XKill by hitting Ctrl + Alt + Esc, and you will see the cursor transform into something out of the "Pirates of the Caribbean". Then just left click somewhere on the program, to "kill" it. Right click to interrupt the "kill"
