Anyway, update from CVS right now should have all the latest.

Great improvements! Really progressing!
Thanx Dave

I love the new quilting design, since I can now select any chart product (BSB/S57/CM93) - where before you either used quilting, or could use your full chart catalog, but not necessarily both. Well done!

I also updated the wiki for the dependencies required to build under Ubuntu - hopefully it's helpful.

As far as crashes go - I have found for a couple of months that I can vastly increase stability by removing the .conf/.ini whenever I upgrade, and reconfiguring my chart catalog (as well as everything else) from scratch. For some reason, just doing a full DB rebuild is not sufficient, but removing the config file first resolves it every time.

As always, I continue to be impressed with OpenCPN, look forward to whatever is next, and will do what I can to promote it's forward progress!

Hi Dave

Very impressed by your works . Fortunately , it seams you have some compensations ...

Loading and building new cvs :
No longer crash when rebuilding chart database without forcing full rebuild but still crash when forcing full rebuild (see shot "crach" attached )
I got several times the same crash when clicking on quilt control bar (specially on cm93 bar) see "crach1"
I have still a problem of extremely low speed : for exemple when rebuiding chart database : at the process end , I get a black screen , then 1 to 3 second later I get normal screen with chart but the quilt control bar stay grey for 10 seconds more
I get some disagreement between quilt control bar and screen : see shot "test" . control bar says no bsb displayed but the screen shows a bsb . if I zoom +/- , the bsb disappear . May be there is a problem of screen refreshment when nothing is moving ?

regards
Jean Pierre

As far as I can tell, not limited to bsb and moving or not. The behavior is not always exactly the same... Depending on which chart I remove from the quilt first either one or both stay displayed and until I scroll away or zoom out far enough to render another chart the behavior stays incorrect.

The actual place for IENC info we need is IENC side of the OEF

BTW I haven't been there for a while and almost fell under the table a few minutes ago when I've seen they have another new version in the works when we are by far not done with the old one

Hello again, can someone explain to me why the version2.1, processes reading the gps (navigation) so slowly, unlike the version 1.3?

I know it's a beta, but it may be my fault perhaps my configuration, maybe!

I know that the carths are not always the perfect way to orient ourselves, but it is normal that the trail left by boat is just above the harnesses out of the sea?

Take this opportunity to ask those who know more than me.

Often an estuary where the channels sometimes become very narrow margin for error and must be very small.

How to configure the trace of the boat so that when I turn the steering to make a curve and not to cut way.

I made a drawing in order to better explain. I need like the photo1, is possible?

Forgive my poor English, Portuguese here.

Well, maybe someone else, but at least to me it's not clear at all what the other questions are. Try to describe it in a different way, please. I've personally sailed just with the first two 2.1.0 betas and didn't see any problems with the gps position.

CVS update

Hi testers!

New code uploaded to CVS now. Corrections (hopefully) for some reported quilting bugs.

New quilt control symbology:
1. Eclipsed charts show an "eclipsed" control bar key.
2. Manually excluded charts show a closed dark "eye" symbol.

Will, I think we need another icon here, maybe a crossed out eye? I would rather not have an open eye for included charts, as this is the default. I think the control looks a little "busy" with all those eyes staring at me.

3. Right click on a chart brings context menu allowing exclusion of his particular chart under the cursor from the quilt.

Ptizef: Jean Pierre, I wonder about your performance issues. Is it in quilting only? BSB or cm93, or both? Have you tried Release build from VS tools? I find the Debug build can be slow, since it is un-optimized.

Anyone else seeing serious performance issues with quilting?

Windows Setup.exe users: Please be patient as we work out these basic data-flow and UI issues with debuggers online. We will have a new Beta within a couple of days.

I continue to test locally.....

Thanks
Dave

How about a simple red X?
redX.zip

I'm getting lots of segmentation faults in quilting mode. I have to delete opencpn.conf for opencpn to start again without another segfault.

CVS 504a

Will....

OK, new CVS now.

1. Fix for smoother behavior on startup with S57 ENCs in quilt.
2. A little red x.

Good Luck, and thanks

Does, Linux builds help anyone to test?

I keep linux builds up from my reposotory up at a web-site for my och good. It's almost the same as the 2.1 branch. Thou i have some small changes of my own. A fullscreen mode for my netbook and grib info with wind in m/s now.

Deb and rpm:
Index of /~balp/OpenCPN

And I might have screwed stuff upp, don't blame Dave for any errors.
