Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

I installed it on a Lenovo S10-3T Netbook running Windows 8 Beta last night. Worked great.

I was confused as to why my Windows 7 Dell Laptop was orientating maps differently when I tested the two units side-by-side until I realized the GPS dongle plugs in on the opposite side of each machine.

Gilletarom....

I cannot access the SHOM charts at the link you gave me. It redirects to a home page, with no download button.

What next?

The log does not say much.
Fixed with the change mentioned in http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post929346

Ooops, didn't notice we are on another page already

Dave..

My fault,I had forgotten a pendrive with an older version of my maps in one of the USB ports, whilst I had configured the map locations on my hard drive.
Somehow,OCPN selected the pendrive it seems. Anyway, all was back to normal after I removed the pendrive.

Starting filter for chart objects display

I have assisted a fellow cruiser with his first try with OCPN. We went for portable installation on a removable drive.

The default starting configuration for Vector Charts -> Display Category is "Standard". When choosing "Mariners Standard" for the first time, all entries in the filter tick box are disabled. This makes the screen go completely blank, which can be very confusing to a novice user, although is formally correct.

Any reason for choosing "None" rather than "All" as the starting default?

Dave,

will this cure the following segfault too?:

- open OpenCPN
- click RouteManager
- go to Waypoints tab
- press New button...
- ...and get a segfault with a message:Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
Segmentation fault

While playing with this I once got the following instead, but I can not reproduce it:

opencpn: relocation error: opencpn: symbol _ZN7wxSound6CreateERK8wxStringb, version WXU_2.8.11 not defined in file libwx_gtk2u_adv-2.8.so.0 with link time reference

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1609

mrm...

All the same root problem.

However,

Code:
symbol _ZN7wxSound6CreateERK8wxStringb, version WXU_2.8.11 not defined in file libwx_gtk2u_adv-2.8.so.0

and

Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
are "normal" GTK2 complaints, not related to the segfault.

Thanks
Dave

In this case the second character is octal 251 (hex a9). When I delete this character the chart works OK. I just wonder how many versions there are of this ,destructive, second character?
Perhaps it would be better to script a "cleansing cure" for SHOM BSB 1 charts than coding exceptions for each case in OpenCPN??

Dave

Regarding the SHOM mess.
All the problem lines in the kap headers are just comments, starting with "!". Why not ignore all these lines, and just bypass the problem?
