OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Ahoy, OpenCPN'ers...

OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729 will soon be available for download from opencpn.org.

Monitor the opencpn.org Downloads page to find and download the latest Beta version binaries.....

Source is available now on sourceforge git repo.

Changelog
273. Various touchups to pattern and HPGL rendering logic.
274. Disable double-click object query if cursor is near screen edge.
275. Correct OpenGL FBO/Stencil selection logic for some GL drivers (FS#809)
276. Improve code efficiency for FBO assisted OpenGL screen pans (FS#810) Thanks Sean
277. Correct Heading True/Magnetic and Variation logic (FS#811)
278. Improve some chart symbol rendering

Release 2.6.1729

Notes:

This is it, I think. This Release Candidate is the one to publish.

Left to wrap up:
1. Some lingering documentation issues, in process.
2. Some lingering Flyspray Tasks need closure requests if OK. You know who you are....
3. Update the Version String
4. Publish....

I plan to hold off on the Release of 3.0 for a week or so, so that we can really test the odd corners of compatibilty and functionality.
Also, we may get some updated international translations...

Thanks again for all your support. The finish line for this leg is in sight.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

WinXP, OpenGL enabled:
vector chart on screen, other two raster charts in the background.
Trying to switch to the raster charts will stall the program - no response.
Quilting does not infuence.

Happens in 2.6.1723 as well.

Without OpenGL no problem, no problem in Win7 neither.

Hubert...

Do you have a screenshot of the situation?
Also, a logfile would be helpful.

Thanks

Hubert....

The OpenCPN runtime logfile may be found by looking at the Toolbox->Help icon, and looking for the information "logfile location"

Thanks

Hubert...

Thanks for the log.

So, does the chart C:\Archivos de programa\OpenCPN\NGA\126.kap open normally? If not, maybe you could send me that chart for analysis.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Seems to be the culprit. With just the raster charts enabled O will crash right from the beginning. Had to erase the ini file to start the program again.
Panning to 124.kap will stall the program in OpenGL mode.

Will send the offending chart by mail.

Dave..

The latest release v.2.6.1729 does not install the GE interface because the gecomapi_pi is missing the .dll

Tore...
Could you explain what you mean, please? GE plugin is not part of the OpenCPN installation package at all.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Pavel..

I assumed it was,but then again, every new version of opencpn overwrites the previous.
I had the GE plugin working in the previous version but after installing
the v 2.61729 today, the .dll was missing in gecomapi_pi. Very strange..

Also,I made a fresh, parallell installation of v 2.6.1723 today and it contains the GE plugin,so it must be part of opencpn.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Tore...
the installation does not do anything with the plugin DLLs other than grib and dashboard which are part of the package, something else must have happened to the file on your system... The official name of the dll I released for the latest betas is gecomapi_win32_pi16_v09_pi.dll, so I actually wonder how it could have been changed to simple gecomapi_pi in other way than that you renamed it manually, which I would expect to be a possible cause of a mess in the filename... If you don't have this latest version, you can get it from https://github.com/downloads/nohal/g...i16_v09_pi.dll

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Hi,

I saw the same, in 2.6.1723 there was a GE plug-in "gecomapi_pi.dll" by default, but after I installed 2.6.1229, it disappeared. You can check that by doing the same, please install fresh 2.6.1723 and you can see GE plug-in and after upgrade to 2.5.1729 GE is gone

I have one more observation.
In Dashboard, if you select clock, time is getting from Windows system not from GPS satellite. I think more appropriate and more accurate is GPS time.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1729

Kubek...
It was obviously a messed up build - I forgot to remove the plugin from my source tree when creating the package. This "bug" was fixed with 1729... Interesting that nobody actually reported it until today...

Sorry for the confusion
