It worked on my intel based macbookpro. The dl page seemed pretty specific to intel based processor versions of mac.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Previous 2 downloads were defective, as noted earlier. Just downloaded again and the dmg opens just fine. Strange...

Again, great work Dave & team.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Thanks it is working well. I like the cmap icons.
Running ubuntu 12.04, the software center is picky and wont install unless you override the warning.

I get an install error saying maintainer address missing.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Oh 3.0 rocks soooo much. Congratulations.

Updated it on the Toughbook last night and it uses less wattage with OpenGL enabled. And the Dashboard docking makes everything look so tidy.

Testimonial story:
Two weekends past my friend and I took part in a race. I had the Toughbook with me because there were quite a few marks to keep track of. I had put them all in there from the sailing instructions and named them with "Mark X on Stb" and so on.
So we get on board, motor to the start line and do our "strategy talk" on the way. I showed him the course, dragged the map from here to there, zoomed and switched tracking on and off. That was it for instructions.
I had planned to hand him the tiller after the start to do the navigation but I never had to. After about 10 more minutes he was happily using OpenCPN and did so all through the race, calling the tacks and keeping us where we needed to be.
Using the track as reference we could easily profit from the breeze bending around certain corners and always knew where the marks were. Sure these are things you can do without OpenCPN but it just makes things very comfortable. Even if you've never (!) used it before.

Sooo, going racing again this weekend. Wish me luck.

Thanks for your report. The installer is a bit picky. "Bad package" sounds _bad_, but means very little, in this particular case. Just ignore it!
It's now documented in "known issues" on the download page.

Many thanks Dave and great work. OpenCPN has become our nav program of choice on our laptop. You do the boating community a great service. Chuck

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

A few years ago I only dreamed of taking a linux based computer to sea playing with other software to force it to do what I needed. Then along came OPCN....many many thanks to all...

And there was a loud cheer from bilge slaves....in unisen as well.
