Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Boney....

Thanks for the install log.

We need the runtime log as well, please.
It should be in C:/ProgramData/opencpn/opencp.log, or something like that...

Thanks
Dave

Old log message

Installed 3.0 and every time I start it I get the message the old log will be moved to opencpn.log.log. How can I avoid that popping up?

Thanks

BlueGillBoy...
The log is rotated every time it grows to big. This feature can't be turned off. Some of the plugins (notably GE) produce considerable amount of log messages.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

Thanks for letting me know. I do use GE a lot so that probably explains it. If it can't be avoided, it would be nice not to interrupt startup by waiting for the user to click OK. Feature request perhaps. Anyway, no complaints at all. Love OCPN.

Is there a way to rename the waypoints? I down load the routes to a hand held GPS in the cockpit and I like to name the waypoints to show things like where we are or what inlet we're passing or shallow water etc.

Sure, after you create the route go to the waypoint that you wish to rename, right click the WP; select Mark/WP properties; change the WP name; select Show Name Icon. Voila!

It is hard to imagine what specifically is required by OpenCPN in SP3, when it also runs on Mac and Linux. Is it just the installer application? (part of the evil of SP3 by the way). If so, perhaps a different installation .exe could be built which doesn't use SP3 "features".

Without your continued and sometimes persistent attention to the details of OpenCPN functionality and performance, we would never have achieved our 3.0 Release with so much confidence in its quality and utility.

OpenCPN is much the better for all of your involvement.

So, grab a fresh copy of O "hot off the press", and take a well-deserved break to recharge your mental batteries.

Pretty soon we shall be on to the next Beta program,
because the OpenCPN story never ends....

You are talking about 3.0.0 while I want to talk about 3.0.2. Still using 2.4.324 and decided to upgrade to 3.0.2. It suppose to be good for XP with SP3. Not so, I have XP with SP3 and no luck. May be it will be a dead end. Tried contact Open CPN to no avail. Do you have any suggestion ?.
Thanks

Exactly how did you try to contact OpenCPN? This forum is the best way!

Regarding your problem. First read through the following threads:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...2-a-87786.html

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...art-86675.html

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ing-86059.html

If that's not enough to solve your problem, post in this thread ->

describing your problems in detail.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

I'm a new user, abd like what i see. used to use Seaclear. I've downloaded the latest version DEC 31, 2012 (3.0.2) and I like the look of the OpenCPN format.

I also downloaded the latest BSBV4 plugin successfully, and saved it in the program's "plugin" folder where the other plugins are, but this plugin does not show in the plugin tab list of "tools", so i can not enable it. My other plugins work fine, so i think i have the process right.

I need this plugin to view the Canadian raster charts (2012), which are properly registered. I have the encryption key, but it installed in the same directory, but its own folder. Does that make a difference? I've pointed to the correct folder in the program's "charts" tab, and run the rebuild. Still can't see the charts.

Is there a problem with the plugin for release 3.0.2? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.0 Release

rmcauley, I use this driver and no problem with Canadian BSB charts. Make sure you have downloaded BSB v1.2 plugin released 2012-03-29. Under Tools-Plugins it should show disabled, just click on it and enable. Open CPN Help will guide you with it.
