Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

RhythmDoctor...

...got to take back what I wrote about downloading the Sensors app. You're right, having to agree on backing up data on 'the cloud' is optional. Same with WiFi; there is a faint WiFi signal coming in from somewhere. Sorry about the misinformation...

I have Sensors app downloaded on the Stream 8 now and this is the latest findings: With the WiFi turned off and the Broadcom GNSS reading 'This device is working properly' the Sensors app and GeolocationTCP show 'initializing' – indefinitely. I guess the Stream 8 and OpenCPN just do not work together.

Anyway, meanwhile I got the Miix 2 and with exactly the same settings as on the Stream 8 it showed a fix on OpenCPN within minutes. That's the main thing.

I got cables for the Stream 8 so I can charge it and use an external device at the same time. (This cables also work well with the Miix 2) It means I still can use the Stream 8 as a back up with an external GPS. So all is good now...Thanks!

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

A couple of questions.

First, does anybody have a clue about running OpenCpn on Windows 10?

Second, is OpenCpn 4.1 just for Android or is it applicable to Windows 7 as well?

Yes. What do you want to know? If you want to know whether it works, then yes. The official packages for OpenCPN 4.1 beta for Windows were built and tested on a Windows 10 machine.

The latest beta for any version of Windows is 4.1.602, having it's own thread at http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...se-147302.html

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

nohal, the question I'm interested in is does OpenCpn 4.0 run under Windows 10? I hope/pray/insist that we'll be cruising this summer and if I need to upgrade to Windows 10 I want to run a released version of OpenCpn, not a beta. So, how does ver. 4.0 run under Windows 10?

I really appreciate OpenCpn and the radar overlay and want to make sure that I do the right thing, whatever that is.

Thanks, Boris

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

Boris...
Any OpenCPN version runs on Windows 10. But of course not many people tested it yet as Win10 is not released. The real questions are whether your computer will run Windows 10 well and whether your GPS or any other hardware you will want to connect to it will work well... Would I upgrade to it in the middle of a cruise this summer? Most likely not.

What happens when you use the arrow-keys?
Does the mouse work correctly or does it "jump"?

Its working fine now of course! Gahhh!!

Maybe I'm over loading RAM? I will try uninstalling 3.2.2 and reinstalling 4.0

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

Background of my question are USB devices - here USB-serial adapters - that are erroneously interpreted as pointing devices by Windows. Making moving around your cursor depending on the data coming in.

OS X Yosemite syslog warnings

These syslog warnings in OS X Yosemite (10.10 and above) has been fixed now in wxWidgets 3.1.0 trunk:

Code:
02.08.15 12:33:51,913 OpenCPN[2667]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.4 instead of 10.10.4. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number.
Call location:
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 0 CarbonCore 0x00007fff927822b7 ___Gestalt_SystemVersion_block_invoke + 113
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 1 libdispatch.dylib 0x00007fff8dc21c13 _dispatch_client_callout + 8
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 2 libdispatch.dylib 0x00007fff8dc21b26 dispatch_once_f + 117
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 3 CarbonCore 0x00007fff9270b456 _Gestalt_SystemVersion + 987
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 4 CarbonCore 0x00007fff9270a6e3 Gestalt + 144
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 5 libwx_baseu-3.0.0.3.0.dylib 0x0000000103b168df _Z19UMAGetSystemVersionv + 31
02.08.15 12:33:51,925 OpenCPN[2667]: 6 libwx_osx_cocoau_core-3.0.0.3.0.dylib 0x0000000103c90742 _Z14wxDisplayDepthv + 18
So for compiling OpenCPN for Mac OS X the latest wxWidgets trunk should be used.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.0 Released

George64...
4.0 is the current stable release. IMO way better and more stable than 3.2.
It is a slight misunderstanding that plugins don't work beyond 4.0, they of course do - what you read is you need a new build of the plugins for the current 4.1 beta, nothing that you should care about in your upgrade.
