Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.1 Released

Dave,

VDR on my netbook under ubuntu 16.04. I have transferred all my VDR files recorded for a long time in this netbook.

Recall, all files recorded with VDR are, or can be, files without extension.

Under W10, if I ask VDR to run a file, it displays a list of all the files that are in the folder. I can choose any file with or without extension.
Under Ubuntu, the list of files that appears only includes files with extension. So, you can not choose files without extension ....

In the folder shown by the attached screen shot, there are files without extensions. I can see them with other tools and even open them with "gedit". But, the Ubuntu version of VDR does not allow to see them.

Is it due to VDR, to OpenCPN or to Linux ubuntu ?

Gilletarom.

Note : No problem with VDR if the file extension is ".txt". So this is not my question.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.1 Released

I'm using Windows 7 and OpenCPN 4.6.1.
This is not a major issue - but it does not work properly.
The icons in the "Waypoint Properties" dialog is distorted - see screenshot image.

There are a few people on the Norwegian site that also has this problem.

This is a Visual C++ file?
Should it be installed if missing, by the installer?

This has been reported on Windows 10

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.1 Released

4.6.1 on my Ubuntu machine still shows a brief "garbage" display on startup. Everything else seems to work well. It seems a little quicker than 4.6.0.

Hotrod...
OpenCPN uses MSVCR120.dll, not 100.dll. And MSVCR120.dll is installed if not already present by the OCPN installer.

You may try to download the installer again, install as normal, and look at the install log on the last install screen. You should see:

Code:
File: overwriteflag=0, allowskipfilesflag=2, name="msvcp120.dll"
File: wrote 455328 to "C:\Program Files\OpenCPN 4.6.1\msvcp120.dll"
File: overwriteflag=0, allowskipfilesflag=2, name="msvcr120.dll"
File: wrote 970912 to "C:\Program Files\OpenCPN 4.6.1\msvcr120.dll"
Thanks

I believe this is "normal" as all log files seem to have this line. I don't think this points to a problem.

Dave, I got the 100dll missing error when upgrading to OCPN 4.6 . I assumed that I had somehow deleted the dll as I had recently had a purge of unused software. I reinstalled the relevant Visual C++ redistributeable and the problem went away.

Perhaps there is an old check for a *100.dll left behind?

Dave,

Yes, OpenGL is on. The window opens full of lines of irregularly space black blocks. Each block is just one line tall. The narrowest block is the width of a character, the widest is the width of five or six characters. The arrangement of the blocks seems completely random. It calls to mind a memory mapped display of random data, as if the display were opened before being initialized. Maybe the background map is trashed. It only lasts about as long as the background map is displayed before being replaced with local maps.

It only happens on the Toshiba running Ubuntu 14.04, not on the Compaq running Ubuntu 14.04 or the Dell running Windows 10. I never saw it before upgrading to 4.6.0.

No, that is not "normal" but is triggered from the actual wxWidgets version which uses a newer libpng than the old wxWidgets 2.8.

Any developer using png files in his code or any user using his own png files for user-icons should strip the ICCP informations in the png pictures files with the "convert" command of the ImageMagick app bundle.

For converting use this command:
convert -strip old-png-filename new-png-filename

Sadly the log does not show which png file has the wrong profile, so you must test each one. Only the place of occurrence in the log file gives a hint where to search for such png files.
Is the line "iCCP :known incorect sRGB profile" right after initializing a plugin you can be sure the affected png file is into this plugin.

I may not be able to explain in my previous post. Sorry for my bad English.

Linux, Ubuntu 16.04 32 bits

Here are two screenshots showing the contents of the same folder. Using the linux "Files" tool, you can see the full contents of the folder.
By using VDR to access the contents of the same folder, one does not see files that are without extension.

The folder contains REALLY:
- 1 folder, which have no extension, obviously. ---> Visible with VDR
- 3 files that have an extension. ---> visible with VDR
- files without extension. ---> invisible with VDR!

It is therefore impossible to select a file without extension to read it with VDR.

Netbook 1001 HA ASUS. Linux ubuntu 16.04, 32 bits

I have no major problems at startup. But, a large white square appears and disappears very quickly before the icon bar is displayed. As it goes very quickly, I do not have time to make a screenshot.
This is true with OpenGL ON or OFF.
