"Quick update :
I launch "No OpenGL" all seems to be fine ... and texts are readable.
I closed 'No openGL" reopen with OpenGL option :
OpenGL ticked=map is the other way round.
OpenGL un-ticked=map is the right way round"

What model PC are you using? Have you seen any other troubles with OpenGL before? Does OpenCPN v5.0 work OK?

Thanks
Dave

Rick...
re:
"Opencpn (Ubuntu 18.04) Bionic-gtk3 version? or would it be better to install Opencpn Bionic version, due to dependencies?
Which is more compatible/standard for testing?"

On 18.04, either gtk2 or gtk3 will work, although must apps and users will be focused on legacy gtk2 compatibility.

For Beta testing OCPN, I would suggest that you install and test with the Bionic-gtk3 version. This will help us to get more complete test coverage, especially managed plugins.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Piano key hover for Mbtiles

Several posts say that the chart information is not displayed when hovering over an Mbtiles piano key.

Not true for me. Works fine.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

I'm seeing comments about newer versions of the Beta. The one I'm using has been out a couple of weeks now. Should we be beating on a newer version? I'd expect lots of interim builds now.

Terry, it's not that the info box doesn't display. As you point out, it does. The issue is that the chart areas for mbTiles don't highlight when you mouse over the piano-keys the way they do for other chart types. I think Sherry was the first to notice this, probably because she's more used to KAPs than the rest of us.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Jon...

We should be working with the original Beta version as announced in this thread.
However, there is a small glitch. The cloud server "retention policy" for saving important build artifacts is quirky. So the original installer referenced by this thread has unfortunately been overwritten by successive test builds.

I'll try to tweak the settings to fix this in future.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Thanks, Dave. I actually pulled mine off the OpenCPN.org server, in the Beta section. Hope that's OK.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Here is a file that is less than the 2mb limit

Created with Sat2chart, I think with SASPlanet usually at about zoom level 17 or 18 selected.

These sat pics showed clearly when running 5.0x beta

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Download from here Ubuntu 18.04 bionic gtk3
Tried to install using Ubuntu Software it is a deb file.
Entered PW for security. Shows Download size 0 bytes, but file is 10mb.
Hit install the install bar completes but nothing happens.
The the red install bar disappears.
I find no new version installed under software.
Is there something I am not doing?
I have a beta installation that I build, I thought it would install in parallel.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Dave
When do you expect to put a stable version 5.2.0 with no hassle in it?
Don't be insulted there is no bad intention in my request. I am most satify with your work.
Best Regards.
