Karanga....

Was this tileset usable with OpenCPN v5.0?

Rick....

"This program seems to prompt for "safe mode" now."
What is "safe mode"?

For your system:
Your package management database is now a mess. Two versions of O installed, various GSHHS files installed, etc.
You should take a look at a program called "synaptic". This is an interface to debian package management that gives a much clearer idea of what is installed, available, etc.

$sudo apt-get install synaptic
$sudo synaptic

Use search button (upper right of GUI) to find "opencpn". It will list everything it knows about opencpn. Uninstall completely everything related to opencpn.

Then, using the "repository" menu, add the opencpn Beta repo. Reload, and you will see the option to install opencpn. Do that, and all should be clean again.

Good Luck, help available if you need it.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Yes. It was working fine with v5.0.

I have noticed on *some* other tilesets that it has started off black, but as I zoom in, the proper image appears. So it could this indicate that there is an issue with how the data in my tilesets is reacting to v5.1, rather than graphics rendering of my system?

Karanga....

Not that I don't believe you, but I know that almost nothing was done technically to MBtiles rendering in V5.1 as compared to v5.0.

I just tried on my bone-stock Acer W10 laptop, and the tileset works fine on both O5.0 and O5.1 Beta.

If you have the chance, will you re-install O5.0 and confirm that it works OK there?

Thanks
Dave

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this problem on the Beta, but I see it clearly on O5.0.

So, I judge it "fixed" for O5.1.
Agree?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

I just back- installed the latest official version v5.0.0+9065270.
The tilesets display perfectly (loading and displaying by default, instead of the new improved displaying when requested).
They displayed at all zoom levels, with no black.
Darn....

OK, thanks for testing O5.
More thought required.....

Anyone else seeing anything like this problem with isolated single MBtiles on W10?
The problem shows up as essentially "black" tile overlay display, with very little detail discernable.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

For some reason, when I activate a group of charts with Mbtiles, all charts are disabled!
I turn them on, reboot CPN and see that everything is turned off again! Nonsense!
Is this a bug or a new feature?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

According to the logs, see that this is optimization. But what about those who have mbtiles in a separate group and are used as the main chart? For example, I'm used to splitting the screen into two parts in one ENC in the second mbtiles.
All the same, it’s possible to give an option in the CPN settings for two modes: 1. overlay, 2. without overlay?
Thus, we come to the resolution of disputes with the display of mbtiles

Karanga, how are you making your mbTiles? I make mine with SAS Planet, & sometimes merge them with Sat2Chart, & I've never had the sorts of problems you're seeing.

I'm assuming that, since you're using an AMD processor, you're using the ATI graphcs?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Using Ubuntu 18.04, can anyone explain what actions I should take to fix the prompt for "Compatibility Mode" "Yes" "No" in the new beta version. I can't seem to get plugins working, as there is something wrong with the setup I presume.

Jon, maybe you should move this kind of discussion to the mbtiles thread?

With version 5.1.428+e63cdd2 all seems OK, but not with the last of yours.
I have Windows 10pro, Nvidia GeForce updated.
Thanks for your kind help.
Regards.

That is why I removed it. No plugins works.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Rick...

I ask again:
What is "prompt for "Compatibility Mode" "Yes" "No" ?
Do you mean "Safe Restart" dialog?
"The last opencpn run seems to have failed...."

If so, this is called "Safe Restart mode".

Or maybe you mean something else...

And have you read the logfile?
