Dirk

No apparent problem here with WP layers containing many thousands of points, or with layers that have tracks and waypoints (economic exclusion zones).

Is your O hanging with any layer, or some very specific layer ?

Hoolie...
"The other panel uses oeSenc charts and the depth font size is about 1.4mm (COSF = -1) which is too small for comfort. How is it the font sizes differ? The chart objects appear to be of similar size, though are rendered rather differently."

Looks to me as though you have an older oeSENC_PI loaded.
Please use the plugin manager to upgrade to the "managed" version 4.2.7

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

The help window floats somewhere in space! The window slides up the screen and cannot be closed!
Correct? so that the borders of the window are on the borders of the screen. Several times reported about this inconvenience
And further
If you open the help, switch to another application and return back to CPN, then the help disappears. If you press the back button from the help index, an empty white field appears. Will only work after rebooting CPN. Win10

Did a bit further testing, and I can bring it down to waypoints including a link and only one linux machine. So it is not likely to be an OpenCPN problem.

You make a good point. Objects like generic (simplified) buoys generally are specified as 4.0 mm in height. I think we can agree that this would look very large when applied to your screen shots. About 1.5x the sounding font size....So we very early made the subjective move to reduce their size somewhat, and rely on the Chart Object Scale slider to accommodate user preferences.

Food for thought. I will experiment.
All: Comments?

Thanks
Dave

- On one of my computer, screen 256 mm 1366x768 pixels, 0 is too big for soundings, -1 is fine for sounding but simplified buoys are now too small, they are ok at 0.

- IMO sounding decimal part could use a smaller font.

Thanks! I couldn't see how to access version 4.2.7 but version 4.0 seems to have completely cured the problems of size and rendering

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

For updates of the plug-in use the new feature of "managed plug-ins". They install directly from inside of OpenCPN. Options|Plug-ins

Same for managed plug-ins not yet installed on an individual system.

Update catalogue, select your plug-in and observe the options.

This is one of the Beta test tasks. Use the new plugin loader function.
There are "managed" plugins to test. Some plugins are available for install from inside OpenCPN. You don't need to visit opencpn.org for download - install.

Options->Plugins. Scroll down and click "Update Plugin Catalog: Master"
In your case look for oeSENC and click "Install/Update". Wait for it to be installed. Click "OK"
(Now check if the oeSENC tab/page is available in Options->Charts. If not, restart O and report here. Thanks)

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Hi,
About sounding Depth font size.
On my 15' under Linux Mint that seems OK at 0 scale factor. (Physical screen w = 361)
But on my 10' under W10, figures seems very big. (Physical screen w = 222)
You'll find attached shot at scale factor -3, -2, -1 ,0 +1, +5
Size at -1 would be good for 0... and between +1 and +5 there no difference.

In fact the size is as big in a 10' as a 15' screen , but the result is not the same for the eye!

About the UI scale factor.
I have about the same effect. On my 15', at 0 scale, the toolbar is just a bit too big but acceptable.
On my 10' at 0 scale, the toolbar is enormous and I must set -3 /-2
to get something "normal" related to the screen sizeSee shot attached at 0 scale

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

That is exactly the reason why I turn back to my previous version of 5.0.604 .
I down know what happen in this version of 5.1.428, something is not correct, definitely.

Thanks, I have tried that but I do not get the options shown on your screenshot. It seems I will have to start with a managed version rather than the standard, but from where? Import plugin directs me to a folder on my C: drive.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.428 Beta Test

Hoolie...

1. Click on "Update Plugin catalog:master". Wait for update to complete.
2. Click anywhere in oesenc entry panel on the list.
3. This should present the option "Upgrade to managed version 4.2.7". Select that.

Note: The little icon in the oesenc panel entry, on the right, shows an "up-arrow". This is your indication that an upgrade to oesenc is available.

Also note: "Import Plugin" is an option used in special cases, not needed normally.

Do you have the Windows screen scale size set above 100%?

JP...

Just for reference:
An individual tool on the toolbar is designed to be 9 mm square, at scale ="0".

Is this what you observe?
