Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

SamH...

Please note, if using the latest oesenc_pi, it is not necessary to manually create an FPR. The plugin manages all this in the background, automatically.

Fingerprint created when opencpn sudo'ed.
Basically the solution here is to change the permissions of the USB dongle.

The standard way to do that would be (as root or with sudo) make a udev-rule
Code:
$ sudo echo /etc/udev/rules.d/98-sglock.rules >
ATTRS{idVendor}=="1547", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1000", MODE="666"
Then remove and replace the dongle or if that foes not work restart.

With the managed plugin however this should be done from the script that installs the plugin. I think you can create the udev-rule above to test.

Dave might request later to remove it, to test the installation scripts. Perhaps it is better to include the udev-rule to the sglock-library package as well (and remove it from the oesenc-plugin package).

Using the "U" key to look at "Quality of data (M_QUAL)"

These "icons" used to be much sharper and crisper.
Quite "fuzzy" now.

I see no problem with "Quality of Data" symbology on Ubuntu, 16.04, OpenGL or not, oeSENC.
What charts are you seeing trouble with?

Dave

I see the problem with oeSENC & ENC charts, GL or no GL, but only if using Display category "ALL". If I use "User Standard" with all objects selected, I see no extra symbols at all, with the "U" key.

Ubuntu 20.04.

Same for Debian / Flatpak 5.1.511.9914470

The icons are rather rough, but with a 1366x768 screen..
More info, intel system/AMD64/OpenGL

Frankly, it would be nice if the symbols were drawn more nicely, but I'd take function over form here.

I have to check the arm64. Currently I see the same only QoD at setting all / no QoD at setting user standard. Symbols in my version are still fine printed (1920x1080) but not the latest beta.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

Testing with version 5.1.511+a1f3b5e

I'm using a dual screen configuration with chart groups and I have come across something that seems a little odd.

One chart group (Bing 2020) contains just mbtiles, another group called CM93 contains just vector charts.

On the left window I have selected "all charts", on the right one just the "Bing 2020" group, ie just mbtiles. Both windows are zoomed to approximately the same area.

If I move the cursor from the right window to the left one and hover over the yellow piano button (Note no click), the left window changes to display the mbtiles image that is being displayed in the right window. So I end up with a display like this:

Note that no clicking took place, only hovering.

Is this intended behaviour?

Cheers,

Aedan

Probably not. I'll try to reproduce it.

Not sure the root cause, but definitely related to gtk3. I can reproduce on 18.04(bionic) if I force the build to use gtk3. Equivalent build on bionic with gtk2 looks completely normal.

Digging in.....

Corrected in github now.
Probably not the last anomaly we will see with GTK3....

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

Dave

Testing your patch.

OK for (US)ENC charts using Display Category ALL.
Not OK for Display Category User Standard/all objects.

Not OK for oeSENC.

I upgraded the master catalog and installed the latest managed oeSENC plugin. This actually crashed O, just after the plugin was installed.
