Dave
Here's the plugins page; looks much the same as yours except for the version!
Indeed, clicking on the tick it says I have the latest version. I'm still on-line.
Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

On the Debian system the zooming is 1:2 or 2:1, both with +/- icons or +/- from the keyboard.
Alt+/- attenuates the zoom factor as expected.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

On my W10 laptops the +/- keys on the keyboard have a zoom factor of about 1.2:1, completely different to the 5:1 on-screen controls!

I should be able to get down to the boat in a couple of weeks time and I'll check the W10 miniPC system on-board

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

When using the direct entry zoom, either +/- keys or numerical entry the cursor stays normal, when using a mouse zoom wheel to take the same action the cursor turns to an hourglass. Either way takes about the same time, but without the hourglass you don't know that O is "thinking" and it may tempt taking another action when the system isn't ready.

nothing special : just zooming +/-
at small scale it's amazing !
something I noticed : if I stop Ocpn and start it again, first display is OK but is wrong after a few seconds.

Dave

A bit of cosmetics is necessary to make Ubuntu 20.04 as beautiful as the other releases.

Similar problem to the one with "Quality of data (M_QUAL)"
Very ugly here, but for example in Android it's smooth and nice.
I know that this is oeSENC, but I assume it looks the same in ENC.
Any sand waves in NOAA's area?

This is oeSENC. ENC seems OK.

This is how it's supposed to look. Blue background and white text(with my settings).

Two samples were this does not happen. The "Chart Files" tab and the "Tides & Currents" tab. The blue background isn't there. Just unreadable white text.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Dave,

French users will be annoyed to have a line break in the "Options" header. See the screenshot.

I preferred to modify the content of the crowdin in order to solve this problem, in the next version, without you having to modify anything in the program.

So do not correct anything in the program unless in another language there is a similar problem.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

A ceux qui parlent français , To those who speak French:

2. Head-Up Mode: For those installations receiving HDT information from an attached heading sensor, this navigation mode orients the chart display so that the ship's head is "up", If a heading sensor is not available, the "Head-Up" mode functions identically to "Course-Up" mode, for compatibility with existing systems.

Je cherche une traduction adaptée en français des items :
- Heading Up Mode
- Head Up Mode
- Heading Up

Try panning by moving to the edge of the screen.
Left - Right: works perfectly without adjusting the scale.

Up - Down: you get a scale shift if you move enough distance (Mercator).

I just guess that when zooming in and out Mercator also raises his head.

Correcting the small error will probably be costly (cpu power).
The error about rounding should be either fixed (like now) or configurable, but then the scale creep would be more visible.

The way I see it there should be a list of presets (4-10 values, user-configurable) at some point. And perhaps a fixed scale for those with cpu-power in abundance. but the functionality should be defined with a good design and some care.

With the current feature freeze...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Paul...
After some modifications, we see locally that Win10 does not hang, but it does take a long time to come back after digesting the entire 1000+ charts.
This is a wxWidgets bug, should be fixed in an upcoming release.
Meanwhile, I suggest you create smaller sets of NOAA chart downloads. Not to tell you your business, but loading and managing all possible NOAA charts at once in OCPN is bound to be a bottle-neck somewhere, either in downloading, or in simple zoom-pan operations.

Thanks
Dave
