Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

@stelian

Strictly, I'm on Kubuntu, which has a different windows manager than Ubuntu.
I expect the change to Gtk3 affect all windows managers different.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Moo...
Is there any mouse or keyboard action that produces the "flashers"? Or do they happen just randomly? Is OpenGL on or Off? Any difference when off?

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks
Dave

It occurs on start up, no action needed to trigger it.

It only occurs when ownship is within the display area.

If I hover the mouse over the track the frequency of flashing about doubles.

Hovering the mouse over the piano key stops the flashing.

On this machine the flashing only occurs with OpenGL on. Deactivating OGL stops the flashing, switching it on starts it.

In my previous post on the subject; which was on a different machine, it only occurred in the right pane of two and switching openGL made no difference. IIRC.

On this machine with two panes active. I get an interaction between the two panes. Only the active pane contains a piano key. The piano key only reappears in the pane that it has dissappeared from when the mouse is moved into that pane and down to where the piano keys should live.

The tracks only display in the pane opposite the last clicked piano key Clicking the key on the other pane switches the displayed track to the other side.

With openGL off both panes have the piano keys all the time as normal.

I've made a video of all of the effects mentioned. Whilst making it I also got the tearing that some others have mentioned which was fixed by setting screen width to manual. I can share the video via dropbox or similar as it is 176MB at full resolution if you want it?

Moo....
Got the video.

Do you recall when you first saw these effects?
Was it after Beta 5.1.428?

Thanks

Moo...
If you have the time, would you verify that 5.1.428 does not exhibit these effects?

Hmm it definitely occurs in .428 too.

One thing that I did not show in the video is that if I position the chart so that boat position is off screen the flashing stops.

In dual pane mode both panes must be so positioned. The tracks stop flashing and the piano keys behave correctly.
